Can't authenticate on ADSL

So I finally got my 4MB ADSL line installed yesterday. My modem synced, great! I Authenticated successfully with my ISP (AfriHost) until 10:20pm last night when I was disconnected from my ISP.

I checked bandwidth, still had a 1GB left. The line is still synced correctly with Telkom but it wont connect to AfriHost, nor will it connect to my TelkomInternet account and neither my Axxess account.

I contacted AfriHost, but they say my account is running and there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to. Apparently all their clients are connecting without a problem.

I am not 100% sure how authentication works, but is authentication done on Telkoms servers or is it done at the ISP's?

After the line was installed did you activate it via Telkom at all? Call 086 375 375.

They can also resync your line if needed...
 
The line was working fine. It was activated and is currently syncing perfectly. Telkom technician said to me "line is active, plug your modem in, it should be working". I did so, and it was, until 10:20pm now it's not authenticating at all.
 
I suggest you call telkom still even if the techie was there to install. Line might need resyncing. It happens sometime. Telkom can do that while you are on the line.
 
Ok thanks :) Will give them a call in a bit. I did call the technician to come out and check it again, not sure when that will happen though.
 
If the techie comes out to you they will charge you R190 exvat if the problem is not theirs.

But yes i can understand your frustration as you just got the line & now you cant use it properly :(
 
We had a similar problem last week and it was resolved by Telkom resetting our ports on the exchange.
 
My line is doing the same. Phoned telkom to log a call and apparently it has been resolved but they didn't confirmed with me. I'm losing my patience and I'm going to call them tonight when I got home and tell them I'm staying on the line untill my adsl is fixed. and if the person drops the phone on me I'm going to complain about that person.

I think next time the tech is giving me his number I'm keeping it for future use.
 
Heh - the interface gui on your modem (apart from the colours) is exactly the same as the Billion modems.

The diagnostic is normal.. how is your PVC0 set up?
 
Your settings are fine - though you should probably set 'Default Route' to yes, otherwise you may need to input some routes.

Most likely something wrong Telkom side.
 
Thanks for the help everyone. Problem lay with DSLAM and they also had somehow managed to activate my ADSL line but not the voiceline or something.
