Cap - has anyone been hardcapped ?

If anyone is interested, I've been hardcapped and it bites giant monkey trumpets!

There has to be something better out there.

It would be really nice if we were told what is REALLY going to happen. Hellb0y might be right that we will all be unshaped and uncapped by this time next year, but in my eyes it won't be from Telkom, probably the SNO...

I again get that inkling feeling that TELKOM employees is telling every body ...............

The wife of a Telkom Executive sued for divorce, when the judge asked on what grounds she replied "Non consumation of nuptials, for six months now he has sat on the end of the bed and told me:

Be patient
Something is going to happen
It is good for all of us
Great things is to come

:)

Maybe thats why telkom is leaving some accounts uncapped, seeing if they can handle so many people maxing their lines out.

Wont you be charged for the extra usage? Seems kinda fishy that some people are still getting international even after there cap has been reached. Could this maybe be telkoms way of implementing per gig billing? also im just over three gigs and after five disconnects ive still got international access.

Option 2 (usage-based billing) is only for ISPs, not for consumers.

From Telkom's press release here: http://www.mybroadband.co.za/nephp/?m=show&id=1075

2) ISPs will make use of usage-based billing and be responsible for the total consumption of their end users. They will also manage the capping of each user individually. In this case, ISPs will do their final radius authentication and assign their own usernames and passwords to their respective users.

Yeah but somebody must now pay the bill. That is the consumer. So paying for data volume is unlike anywhere in the world and TELKOM and our beloved corrupted company can say what They want, it is a joke, it is costing us more than before, at the same time we can do less and pay international prices for local content too. Now how can he be proud of that. But of course like ivy, with her phone,Telkom employees dont pay any internet bills, it is free to do as they please from work so why would they do anything from home, therefore the loud mouths of some TELKOM employees and management on recent newspaper and radio news interviews. The only way this can be corrected is if TELKOM abandon per gig billing and restore what we had. Icrease the network speed you a$$holes to accomodate the traffic, dont slow it down because all we do is take longer to do the same thing and use tricks to stuff you around, that is why the TELKOM broadband internet is becoming a fiasco. You are doing it to saveguard your other corupt and overpriced services as we saw on this forum lately and as the product manager waffled on the radio interview. " that is what the diginet is there for", he said, the broadband is for what my sig say. Broadband teletext. TELKOM management are you so brainwashed by your own **** speaches ??????????, need paper ?? 30 Year old copper LOL. What further bullsh1t to come next.

Edited to remove flaming of individual, was aimed at Telkom

Let's bear in mind that Hellb0y is sticking his neck out to give us some long-awaited answers. I recommend holding back on the flame so as not to scare off our one decent information source within the company.

Dear HellB0y

Just one question:

Why is a 56k dialup better (as in cheaper, unshaped and uncapped) than ADSL in South Africa?

Any kind of explanation would be helpful.

Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I have really waited long enough, and the internet in this country is only getting more expensive.
At least Hellboy is trying to answer questions that should've been clarified before the big change, by Telkom itself to its customers, it just highlights the Telkom <-> Client relationship again as piss poor.

Perhaps Telkom's profits should bloody well wait for a change.

The time for talk is really over, and I mean that with the utmost respect.

Agreed, we have waited too long. That's why we need to listen when answers are provided and not prolong the wait by cutting communication lines when they are offered.

Well If you rely on Datapro, nothing will ever happen, they have let me down on one of there per GB accounts ? I cannot browse now and they cannot help me, as there systems are not working yet ? What I want to know did we all not know this was going to happen for ages ? and now they decide to develope the system, most smaller ISP can do it, yet a large company like Datapro cannot, with all the cash they made while listing, they cannot employee a decent developer ? I think the execs are taking to much money as for bonuses, they should not even think of it.

Herewith a report to indicate that your total usage reflects the following:

Username: telkomdsl*****@dsl512telkomsa.net
Uploaded: 717.39MB
Downloaded: 4.12GB
Combined Total: 4.82GB

Based on the above, you have exceeded your monthly 3.00GB volume cap on the combined total and will therefore be redirected to a throttled international service.

Seems to be a mixed bag, still uncapped local

I was capped for 1 day.
Now I'm uncapped again, and way over 20gb.

Looks like they've sorted out their technical difficulties

I'm sitting on over 30gb usage for November thus far and no capp. Guess Telkom is spreading the love...finally. :D

I'm still uncapped, but then I didn't use my telkom account at all last month... i'm on about 4Gb now.

My question is telkom internet going to chrage me for the extra bandwidth, because they shouldn't. It's their own fault if they don't charge me.

I just hope they don't use this as ammunition: "Look, in November we didn't cap and see how much these people downloaded!"

Regardless, I say screw the buggers, take what you can.
