PETROL STATION SHOOTER: I ACTED IN SELF-DEFENCE

Lawyers for H2O owner David Forbes, who is accused of shooting a man at a fuel station in Gardens at the weekend, will today continue to argue why he should be granted bail.

Forbes’s defence team says he’s played open-cards with the court and has no propensity to undermine authority.

Forbes pleaded not guilty to the murder of 23-year-old Toufiq Joseph on Tuesday.

Visibly nervous, Forbes dropped his head in his hands as the court heard details of Joseph’s shooting at the Engen garage on Orange Street on Saturday.

Outside the Cape Town Magistrates Court, emotions ran high, as Joseph’s friends and family protested with placards reading ‘No Bail for murderers’ and ‘Justice for Toufiq Joseph‘.

Forbes claims he acted in self-defence after being attacked by Joseph.

The investigating officer has testified that four knives, including one with bloodstains, was found in Joseph’s black Golf GTI.

Just read that he was out on bail for murder before he was killed, yet his family and friends are acting surprised that he was killed.

why do you think the investigating officer told the court that he was out on bail for murder - because the court does not take this into consideration ?

at the time of the incident he had 4 knives with him in the car
at the time of the incident he was facing a murder charge

Ja - for those that think a knife is harmless, I suggest reading the links I posted in the poacher shot dead thread. A knife can be every bit as lethal as a gun.
