Carnivore diet

Question regarding gout: I am still taking my 300mg of Puricos daily but not sure if I still need it. I will get around to asking my Doc down he line, but has anyone gone off their Puricos while staying on Carnivore long term?
I would say drop it. I am on banting for 10 years now, and dropped Puricos just after I started. I do get gout 1-2 per year, but maybe more due to some cheating.
Difficult to find a carnovore/banting friendly GP, they all freak out when they see your blood results, there is no holistic few of one's lifestyle though. Big pharma is controlling them all :-(

Plant toxins in white rice are almost completely destroyed when you cook it, the issue is the carbs, but I am not going to eat that much.

I think I can be 75-80% carnivore by calories.

I think what you're doing is a mistake (dropping Puricos). The fact you're getting gout flares means there's still a lot of uric acid crystals forming around your joints. These are going to aggregate over time.

They will cause long-term implications and will eventually result in arthritis if left unchecked. There's also a concern about uric acid crystals forming in places like your heart and other organs.

I realize there's a stigma in taking a pill for gout, but you can easily get an answer yourself by taking a UA test. If you're still high despite your diet, well, the answer is quite evident - get back on the Puricos.

Wait, doesn’t increased protein metabolism = uric acid = gout?

How is going carnivore going to counter that?

Five years ago, I quit eating plants to see if it would help with the finger joint pain I was experiencing. It did! So, I don't see any reason to start eating them again.

I honestly can't think that a diet which makes me feel great can be bad for my health.
I could've said the same about going raw-vegan. Those very anorexic looking people who eat only fruit would say the same thing: "I honestly can't think that a diet which makes me feel great can be bad for my health."

The thing I took from going raw-vegan and feeling amazing was that it might be a good thing to do for a month every year or something, not that I should live the rest of my life like that.

(But then again I don't quite think that's your rationale for being carnivore going by your past posts - you're more convinced by the science and research around it & how plants affect us etc.)

I doubt you will feel good If you don't get vitamin b12 for 5 years.

I believe that a raw diet may be significantly healthier than the standard Western diet. It's important to allow people to experiment and find the whole foods that work best for them. Personally, I find that an animal-based diet suits me well.

Yes, I did a lot of research and I feel comfortable with the carnivore diet.

Mark Sisson advocates something like that, only he recommends keto for a few weeks so that you can develop a metabolic adaptation for fat burning, and then you have the mitochondria for the rest of the year, along those lines.

What kind of health issues should I expect?
I am no expert. But I doubt you are following a purely carnivore diet and probably tweaking it when you can. I could be wrong  I can't tell you what to eat :)

I don't like fruit or vegetables. I only like plants that have been processed (chips, bread, pastry etc).

That's why it really wasn't difficult to ditch them completely in favour of meat only. Mentally, I know processed is unhealthy and natural plant food is unappealing to me.

Regarding long term health, Shawn Baker the Carnivore MD is still a muscular beast after more than 5yrs Carnivore.
Ok. Guys I can't tell you what to eat but restricting your diet like this worries me but you know thats just me. Do what you want and do regular blood tests just incase (Well everyone should be doing this regardless of diet choice).

I think ignoring the other science that plants are good for us maybe.

Sorry, I didn't want to come across as rude but do you still follow this strictly? I might have the wrong impression of what you consume now.

The Carnivore Diet, occasionally referred to as the Zero Carb Diet, exclusively permits the consumption of animal products. Consequently, vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and starches are all excluded from the diet
Edit : I would be impressed if you did for so long

No, I'm not a strict carnivore.

I do comsume coffee, chocolate, mushrooms and occasionally avocado.
Fair enough. The diet does seem to help people with autoimmune diseases, did you have something that was affecting you or are you doing the diet for a self experiment? I remember when I was eating mostly meat and boy the toilet runs were bad lol. Sorry for some reason I thought you were a strict carnivore.

I had joint pain in my fingers. I tested for a month if removing plants from my diet will help, and it did.

Your stomach was probably upset because your gut bacteria needed time to adapt. Best is to change your diet more gradually. I was already on a low carb diet so I had no issues going carnivore.
