So technically the difference between CellC's new specials and the other larger operators' specials are only R30 if you compare directly, and R50 if you compare not from a pure value side, but from a recurring consumer's perspective. But then again, on pure value you also have the extra 2GB you can utilise from Vodacom for things like automatic updates using Nightowl which would put them ahead of the other specials.
Anycase, well done CellC - pricing looks good for the consumer.

you not comparing apples with apples dude. Those packages from Cell C and MTN you can simply add to your contract account(the ones I was referring to), and they have a 2 month window that they last.
that Vodacom package AND the MTN one are CONTRACTS and you cant bolt that on to a current SIM. You comparing contract with prepaid deals... You cant do that, it makes zero sense. I have already tweeted Vodacom. They said R349 is their price and if I dont like it GTFO
so yeah...

Still too expensive, they should sell at R20 per GB of data, just like ADSL.

Agreed. Not earth shattering at all. And I think 8ta is till a better offer by far. Make the contract options able to be added to a voice contract, then I might be interested.

Great move yet again but it seems until we get any kind of decent high speed 3G/HSPA from this provider, they would've dropped prices by 80% next year or longer

Roaming has to be removed, only works on 8ta towers.
Actually MTN is not worth it anywhere. No matter how you look at it. Not only they are more expensive but their entire network is moer toe. Indeed they have upgraded a little here and there but overall is mainly a voice network with very limited data capacity. And for as long as they have that court case against them, the customers can only read about upgrade promises. Vodacom CellC and 8ta are the 3 pillars in South Africa's data networks. Virgin, RedBulk and MTN are more on paper then reality when it comes to data. While 8ta piggy backs on MTN, that is mainly for voice and very limited data. MTN never bothered upgrading the data network in South Africa. They believe in expanding oversees. I have fairly good insider info on them although my contact is not even working in SA.
