Cell C Data Potential FIX

Incidentally I found another menu setting-combo bands in which you can select more than one band, so I have gsm 900 and wcdma 2100 selected. Tried this because in my drive home I found many dead spots on 2100

When u use combo, the phone will only use the gsm 900 cos that offers the best coverage.. but we want to use WCDMA 2100mhz for cell C

Nope it still connects on 2100 when it's available

Please help me. I try using this app. But it gives me a "number not found" error. I am running windows 7 with a Huawei E173 stick. I have close the cell c dashoard and then it gives me this error. If I keep the dashboard open it says COM5 in use. If ask the app to detect my device, reset the device etc etc it does it. But when I hit connect it just gives ne the number not found error. Please. I am desperate. I had perfect service till 3 weeks ago and Cell C just wont help, me no matter how many calls and faults I report. Im really dependant on this at the moment as I do not have mtn or voda or 8ta. I just need some one to walk me through what I must do.

hi.

what software other than the cell c software u using.. example mdma

also u could try removing all traces of current install. remove software n drivers then do a fresh install. maybe a firmware upgrade to.

as for selecting which frequency u need to find out the AT commands for ur modem.. search on google or huwaei website

Hi.

Are you guys able to stream youtube video's using cell c??? For some reason my videos refuse to play but if i go through a proxy it plays fine.

I have updated my flash player and codecs so no problem there but it just wont play through normal youtube website

I must say I was pleasantly surprised this morning, was downloading a 4 gig file from Apple and for 23 minutes I had a constant speed of above 2 mb per second that must be close to 20 mbits. I usually get 850 to 1.2 mb per second, seems 5:30 in the morning was a great time for speed. According to my router I have 100% signal strength. The tower is like 40 meters from my home. Queenswood Pretoria

I just set my phone to use HSDPA and not HSUPA. I get weak signal on 2100 MHz but when I use 900 MHz while HSUPA is disabled I get throughput and great signal.

OMG... I COULD JUST KISS YOU RIGHT NOW. I've been struggling with this crappy cellc data connection on my S4 for 2 weeks now and got to a point where i was going to kill. Tried out this fix and it works like charm. Thanks a lot buddy.

sadly this doesn't work in fourways and JHB CBD.
still no throughput

Dial *#0011# and see what band you're on?

currently on GSM900.
only because its the only band i can get any data throughput.
i've tried W2100 but zero throughput both in fourways and JHB CBD during normal working hours.

I too am on 900 MHz but I get throughput on both just not that great signal with 2100MHz. Have you set your phone to only use HSDPA and not HSUPA. This seems to be the problem for me because when my HSUPA was activated I had no throughput on and band whatsoever (even 2100 MHz)

Unable to post link (actually too lazy) but in the first post on this thread there is a link to the thread that explains this. Worked 100% for me and saving battery because the phone stays on 3G and not H+. I'm still getting excellent speeds compared to no throughput on H+

Just selecting wcdma 2100?

No you will still be able to use all HSDPA bands (including 900MHz) but the phone will not use HDUPA. Just dail *#0011# select back, choose number 8 (phone control), then select number 3(NAS control, from there you pick number 5 (RCC HSPA control) and then select change revisions (number 2) and then number 2 again (release 5 HSDPA only). Then press menu and END. You should be fine from there. I check throughout the day on which band I am on and its mostly 900 MHz since I don't have strong signal on 2100 MHz.
