Cell-C / IS "fixed" LTE

So I noticed a couple of speedtests show the internet service provider as Internet Solution.

I think IS and Cellc just struck a deal to allow IS to use cellc network for coverage but back end the network is IS similar to what Afrihost have with MTN. If you check the IP address you get with Afrihost when using MTN apn it's an Afrihost network IP.

I doubt Cellc would be able to offer any support on this fixed LTE offer.

That said one good thing would be that news.is.co.za would be accessible on the cellc fixed LTE service sold by IS.

I totally agree, traceroute looks completely different to when using plain Cell C SIM, I posted two pages earlier. The first server responding to the ping belongs to Internet Solutions.

In other words Cell C is tunneling all traffic to the IS who is reponsible for giving you Internet access. Similar situation is when CEll C user is roaming on the Vodacom network. On the Vodacom tower all traffic is tunneled straight away to the Cell C network (for accounting and your Internet access).

In this situation Cell C can only give support for the radio part of operation, but they are not obligued to do so.

Hi linkinpark

Please PM us your Cell C number, full physical address as well as an alternative contact number.

We will refer this matter to our Network team.

Hey Cell C, I’m struggling to use my VOIP phone with this Sim Card in the Router,If i restart the router it connects but then disconnect soon afterwards. If i put my Telkom Sim in it works fine.

I'm also having the same issues in Stellenbosch. Started on Thursday evening, and still not working this morning.

Pings are mostly fine, traceroute struggles:

Tunneling again. This is the first server on your path with public IP address. It responds erratically, only to the third ping request, but it doesn't belong to Cell C network.

Yeah this looks like a Internet Solutions deal only and basically just the tower that is Cellc the back end all IS.

I would advise that everybody who is having issues to log a support ticket, the more people that complain the more chance that something gets done about it (i hope)

I've had a support ticket open with Axxess since the 22nd of February. Its a back and forth, with them responding every 3rd or so day. I've had more success when complaining about this issue to my dog. I dont think Axxess gives a rats ass about our problem if you ask me, and if they do in fact care they have a strange way of showing it.

I've been nothing but kind and patient with their lack of support, but this is now getting ridiculous. I understand if this is an IS issue, but Axxess is the reseller and they can at the very least inform their customers that there is an issue with their upstream provider and that they are working with them to have it resolved. This bull**** about ignoring and denying it does not help anyone.

Agreed, we pay Axxess for the service, not Cell C nor IS. So it's up to Axxess to provide support for the service and contact their providers to sort their **** out.
I'm over the 7 days so I can't return everything, if i had to cancel now i would have to pay them the full cost of the router. Serves me right for being greedy and getting the B618 router.

Same here...this thing is unusable. Back to using my dsl. Seems they in the business of conning people into purchasing routers. If this thing isnt fixed in the coming week, I'll cancel this rubbish and my dsl account I have with them.

Having the same connectivity issues in Fish Hoek area. Speed test doesn't load; websites don't load... getting great torrent speeds though.

I'm in my 30 day ADSL cancellation period, but seriously considering sticking with ADSL if this is not resolved in the next week.

Yeah, it's really weird, once a website does load (after multiple time outs) speeds are great. Same with normal downloads, once it starts its a stable download rate at 20-30mbps (around 2.5 megabyte/s)
It's just getting that initial connection to the host that's a problem. Certain sites that have alot of assets from different hosts are a nightmare, as each host needs multiple retries to get a connection.

This is the worst internet experience I have ever had. I can’t even load a simple speed test. I have to reboot the router after every 2 YouTube videos. Wow, just wow

Have tried switching between network bands, 1800 and 2100. There could be congestion on a certain band.. there is app similar to that b315 tool box you can use.. also a android huawei app available, but its in polish language

Im in durban and it's doing the same thing. But once Ive visited a site it seems to be ok. I can play online on ps4 and it works great, but on everything else It sort of connects, then doesnt. I have mine through Axxess, going to contact them tomorrow and find out why its doing this.

You can still cancel and return everything without being charged, even get your money back which you initially paid. As long you can prove there is a problem on your end and they are unable to resolve you can return it..
