Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Got a peculiar problem with the cell c service.
If I go to any web site that has a high security requirement it tells me that the certificate has expired however if i use my Vodacom connection no issues only on my Cell C connection do I have this issue.

Please assist
 
Anyone else suffering Cell C outage in the Western Cape?

Down in Cape Town; From Wynberg, Claremeont, across to Strandfontein and Mitchells Plain - ONLY EDGE!
Popped into a mall and asked staff at the CellC store - finally got a knowledgable staff member that informed me that 2 base stations were down in my area: Westgate Mall and another on a farm between M/Plain and Strandfontein. So that would explain a week's worth of Edge.
What this dude told me is that on the base station itself, the techies can see that it's down.
But at their HQ or whatever - its reporting that its working properly. :confused: :wtf:

Come on CellC - some transparency would seriously help alleviate some of the stress.
That along with some feedback on ETA's on repair work would instill a lot of confidence.

We've got the mybb.bot updating about Telkom Exchange failures - can't we get the same thing going for cellular providers?

Sidebar: Up in the Northern suburbs, HSPA all the way. As soon as got to Maitland on the M5 driving north, HSPA came to life.
 
Hi Cell C,

I've ported to you guys a few months back. I have the following issue. I live in a ground unit in Midrand. I have signal everywhere but at my house. My network signal ranged between -97dbm to -107dbm (mostly sits at around -103dbm). I can't use data at all while I'm inside my complex. Is there anything I can do?

Existing reference numbers from Helpdesk: NA, I have sent an email on tuesday morning and had no reply yet.

RAT (2G/3G/HSPA+): HSPA+
Dongle / handset used, Make and Model: Vodafone K3765-Z & Samsung Galaxy S2
What OS and version are you using on the connecting device (Windows / Mac / Linux): Windows 7

Full description of the problem with as much detail and history as possible:
Usually when connecting with the dongle had speeds of 3-4mb dl and 1Mb uploads, when using my Samsung galaxy S2 get connection speeds of 7-10Mb dl and 1-3Mb upload. When I try to connect on either of the two devices the past week, it shows good signal strength (although I refer to the bars, will post the RSSI figures tonight when at home), but there is NO throughput, cannot open any page, not sure if there is a dns issue. Also when trying to connect cell c disappears and shows me to connect to vodacom roaming? The connection used to be so good I could play various online games with no problems, at times I thought I was the only one connected to the tower...hehe

For interest when connecting my cell c when at work, it seems to work ok. Work is +- 14km from my house with a RSSI figure of -93dBm which is quite low?

I wanted to buy one of the new cell c pre-paid promotions, now I have to wait to see if this can be sorted first.

Will try to log it again with cell c to at least have a ref number.

The facebook rep is usually quite responsive. Also tell him/her that the other reps aren't responding!

With regards to communication I agree with you pboy, however my issues are resolved w.r.t the connection and throughput issues. Whether its a case of coincidence or someone responded I do not know as I received no communication from anyone yet.

Any other information relevant to the problem: my cellphone and laptop show that its connecting on edge only. Its always edge no 3g or 3.5g. It is superslow. Cellc page take 3 to 5 minutes load.
 
Mybroadband - this is waste of storage and resources. Threads that don't add value. Or Cellc is paying to keep this open
 
Well 2013 is not starting off well for Cell C, since last year November 2012, the service in my area has dropped so dramatically which is very disappointing as during 2012 I was a very happy customer, now it is a completely different story. Cell C has gone from Hero to Zero in 2 months.

I'm currently on vodacom and upgrading next month, I'm really interested in Cell-C, but after reading all this.... hmm having second thoughts.
 
im in pretoria, this far not a days problems

90% of the time im also going to be there, ill give it a shot! i have my own phone so ill just get a 6 month sim contract to check things out !

You guys out in the sticks don't need to be so envious about the town folks, nothing works here, all due to congestion.

Not ADSL, not Cell C, not Vodacom, not anything :mad:

Edit : Next option is to try satellite, but that is expensive (and slow).

And Vodacom won't let me use LTE on my Top Up contracts, and Cell C refuses to activate LTE in this area :(

Anyone else also having problems with data on there phones? I am in Midrand. Been ongoing since this morning. Rebooted phone but nothing. I am on a Moto RAZR. This is on EDGE...have not tried 3G yet.

EDIT: 3G works...seems isolated on the EDGE network.
