CellC iPhone 5 Pre Orders Open

I applied for a pre-order mere hours after the option went live on the Cell C site and I haven't heard a thing.

Cell C, when are we going to be able to sign new iPhone contracts?

I am on a Vodacom contract and would like to move to Cell C. My contract has expired at Vodacom but it is not cancelled yet. Will I be able to port my nr from Vodacom to Cell C by Friday and be in time for the iPhone launch (if their iPhone pricing is good - Vodacom pricing is crazy)?

Hi,

You can be able to do that but you might have 2 contracts running at the same as such you also need to inform your current service provider to cancel your contract based on their terms and conditions.

Would essentially like to know what im looking at before release date so that when I go in I know what im getting.

I see that the pre order form is gone from the CellC web page. How long until we get a call? Also, pricing would be nice so we know what package we want before we arrive at the shop on Friday and dont have to stand around trying to make a desision while stock walks off the shelves (and if I get a call form Vodacom to begin with contracting and I don't know cellc's pricing, I will go to them even though it means getting a new number).

I've just noticed Cell C has quietly lifted their prices on iPhone 4S contracts!!! Whats up with that???

Last week I priced an iPhone 4S 16GB on a Straight Up 400 with 1GB data and it came to R664....
Just priced the EXACT same package today and it comes to R778!!!! Were there specials on or something I don't know about???

Something dodgy going on here... Starting to rethink things

I just contacted Cell C Sandton City and they said that they'd be having the launch tomorrow but that stock would only arrive on Saturday morning.

I'm a little negative about it all. I've decided to switch from Vodacom to Cell C so I didn't pre-order with Vodacom. I did pre-order with Cell C but I'm out of town on Saturday. I sincerely hope I can GET a phone.

Why say the phone launches on the 14th and only have stock on the 15th?

Does anyone know of a store in JHB that might have stock tomorrow?

Contacted the Menlyn and Montana branches, both say they doubt if they will have it by tommorow perhaps early next week. So whats up? No call yet from Cell C direct.

Went into cellc at eastgate, they said they are launching the deals tomorrow, not the phone. They don't know hen they are getting the phone but he suspects that cellc sandstone has stock. Looks like I will be standing in line at istore tomorrow. Istore says they will be doing vodacom, mtn and 8ta contracting but not cellc. They have really dropped the ball on this one!

I was at Cresta this morning at 9am and they have no idea about when they'll be getting the phone. I'm not quite sure what Cell C is launching.

It's a pity. Their contract has a lot of value and their online services are leagues ahead, but they've been terrible about this launch. If you compare it to Vodacom's midnight launch there's nothing going on?

The techies lead the way in adoption. If you want to take the market share first cater to the power users then cater to the masses. The early adopters will spread the gospel. By falling flat on this launch they're not really encouraging me to tell friends and family.

Best I'll be able to say is "They have great value, but good luck trying to get it."

I am very dissapointed in Cell C with the iPhone launch. I was excited to get the iPhone 5 on launch day. There are no pricing available, there are no phone available. Brand Fail!

Just tried at both Clearwater Mall and Cresta. Both branches have no iPhone but more disturbingly .... both have NO CLUE on when they will have stock or what's actually going on.

Not a good launch Cell C. I was ready to move to you but if this is an indication of things to come .......

Went into the Fourways branch first thing this morning. They have NO STOCK and ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about deals. They also have no idea when the will be getting stock so they have ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION whatsoever.

Even the Cell C website has no details.... What exactly was Cell C "LAUNCHING" today?!?! Orders?!?!

I am seething, I cancelled my MTN contract to change to Cell C and the first thing I have been met with is a Marketing Ploy.
Really bad form for a company trying to compete in this market.

Someone on the Cell C website has just said this about ordering over the phone "cell c direct says you'll only start delivering 2 jan 2013 -- which means you will only get the actual phone mid-jan 2013"

Did you guys join myBB just to complain? No offence, but looking at your post counts, that seems the case...

Anyway- I do think that it is a bit harsh to criticise the service providers less than 3 hours into the working day. Given that iPhone stock is not exactly easy to come by- have some patience. The day is not even midway through.

FWIW- I have checked the competition:

Vodacom: 3 stores were either engaged / did not answer, I was told that they do not know when stock will arrive, all they know is that it was launched today.

MTN: 3 stores were either engaged / did not answer, I was told by the MTN consultant that even if I went to the major stores (who are the only ones that have stock), I most likely won't find anything...

So this is not a problem isolated to Cell C...
