Hi

We can assure you that we are working around the clock to ensure that all stores get stock but due to the demand not everyone will be able to get their hands on the handset. More stock is also expected in the coming weeks to try and accommodate everyone.

We are doing our best but we also understand and accept your concerns.

Ordered from Cell C direct. They say it will be shipped within 10 - 14 days.

It was R399 on Straight Up 200 (as yesterday's article mentioned).

Also, a lady that I spoke to at Cell C direct was not certain when the special would end. I mentioned the 1000 limit and she was not aware of it.

What concerns me is that I've gone through the trouble of pre-ordering and thus "showing my commitment" to Cell C - at this stage, I've not heard a single word from anyone at Cell C. I took my "commitment" a step further after seeing the deals yesterday and went to a branch to do the paperwork for the credit application to ensure a speedy process this morning. Th gentleman assured me that stock will be available at 09:00 and he recommended that I change my contract MTN to pre-paid so that Cell C can port the number with greater ease when I come in for the phone. Of course, with great effort I managed to get this done with MTN. So in short ... I've done everything you'd expect a customer to do.

This morning, I showed up at 09:00 to be one of the 1000 people who would receive 300MB/month extra, however the rep at the store could not even explain the packages properly and they did not know if/when stock will be available and or what is actually going on. Given I've done everything you'd expect a customer to do, is it too much to ask to at least get CellC to do everything a good supplier should do and thus provide get some clarity and guidance on the way forward? Without it, all I've managed to achieve is to waste a morning.

I am able to wait for the phone, that's not the problem, however I'm keen to understand:

1. When do you think (worst case) phones will be available?
2. Will the 300MB/deal be extended beyond 1000 customers?
3. When will someone from CellC actually phone me to give me some feedback on my pre-order?

I'd appreciate if you could give me some guidance on this so that I may then make an informed decision on were to go with my money and which ISP to support.

Thank you,

sSslik

JUST CONFIRMED!!! by Karabo from Cell C.... PLEASE SHARE!!!

NO CELL C STORES HAVE STOCK OF THE IPHONE 5!!!

In other words Cell C has no stock, in other words they are not LAUNCHING today... They are merely taking orders which may take up to a month to be delivered because they have NO IDEA when more stock will arrive.

Extremely disconcerting that Cell C has no issue with plainly LYING to its customers in a cheap sham to try and boost sales... WOW!!!!

Sonix: While I'm as disappointed with the stock situation at Cell C, let's given them a chance to explain BEFORE calling them liars!? As I recall, they are recipients of stock from another party (Core perhaps?) and as also mentioned earlier, there are other Vodacom and MTN stores (and even iStores) that have no stock - so I doubt that this problem is exclusively on Cell C's shoulders.

Well by all means let them explain.....

They should not advertise a 14 Dec "Launch" if they are not able to supply stock on that day... This is a fact.

AND I watched people getting their phones from Vodacom and MTN this morning and HUNDREDS of people got hteir phones at Vodaworld last night.

Hi

Got my phone from Cell C Menlyn. They had both 16 & 32 Gig in stock. Did not hear a word from the pre order, so glad I went in to the shop itself.

Well I went through to Cell C Gateway last night. They had sold out by 10am, but are expecting more units next week friday, strangely, when i asked the rep what the contract price for the 16 gig model will be after the 1000 lucky people promo is done, he told me that the pricing will not change. If that is true, then what is so special about this 1000 customers only deal?

I have a baby on the way in May, and have convinced the wife that we need good smartphones to capture special moments.

Hi All

I Phoned in to Cell C Direct spoke to a Mr. Gumede and he asked me all the questions and read me the terms and all of that he asked me to email him my ID and Statements and then he said congratulations on your new phone. He said delivery would take 7-8 working days. I did this Friday afternoon. I emailed him right after the phone call ended.

Now long story short does anyone know if this means all went well? As I have received no feedback after this. I just want to make sure everything went well as I would like to avoid delays. Should I receive feedback or is this normal procedure?

Also called on friday the 14th and applied online. was asked a kazillion question bar blood group, weight and sexual orientation (lol)
was told application is sucesseful and the phone will be delivered 5 to 6 working days.
alas no emails. nothing to the extent of correspondence....nothing about the R114 admin fee. How many OTHER hidden charges should i prepare myself for before i get shocked into another blood group?
alas we are waiting patiently....

i think their online signup is shocking. none of the service providers are capable of doing ecommerce well:
- CellC has probably the best looking website, but it does not help if none of their sales people process requests - i.e. when you fill in a form to apply for a contract it is reasonable to expect a 24 hour response time - not one week.
- Vodacom spends millions on their online portals, but whatever bodyshop (Accenture, BCX etc) they use right now, one would expect that their deals would show specifics (i.e airtime, data etc)
- MTN - uh well, website has not changed since 1995 ;-)

I think if CellC were to step up their customer service and would have interested staff in their stores it would be a different game altogether. Take CellC Fourways - 3 staff leaning against counters as I walked on Saturday, completely uninterested, they stopped their conversation, looked up and then carried on. Once asked about their iPhone 5's the "smart" guy replied "No, have none!" - one would expect more than 3 words. Like "Sorry, we have none, can we take down your details?"

I would expect horrid delays when signing up over the phone.

I was under the impression that they don't charge admin fees when ordering over the phone.

I've had the same experience with store staff - especially the Rosebank store staff. Won't even bother contacting the stores until next year (I have seen just too many dumb, blank, uninterested stares for 2012) when MAYBE they will have more iPhone 5 stock.
