Cern scientist: 'Physics built by men - not by invitation'

Strange, I suspect I'm way older than you but I knew of at least two straight guys that went into clothing design, nobody thought they were gay for doing that. The one guy I lost track of the other just started another new company in the US.

I really wonder where you went to school at.

You're missing my point. Of course some straight (and gay) guys do go into these careers, but the stigma exists, and people get discouraged because of it.

And you think there is no malicious intent when a man claims that science is the domain of men in front of women scientists?
Haha. Where did he make that claim?

The so called statement about science being invented by and for men was an example of the type of discrimination faced by women in STEM, which the media and that feminist professor have chosen to interpret as his own views. It's literally on one of his lecture slides under the heading Discrimination Against Women.

Always assume the media is lying to you, because they often are. Here is proof.

Oh. ****.

Have you looked at the slides or not?

No. But will look through it a little later as I am literally shooting these posts from my hip.

I'm going to ignore the first part as I'm chalking that up to agree to disagree.

This part however is where you're wrong again. It possible to be discriminated against without being shown the rear door or other overt means. Maybe the DJ found the oft repeated claim that you only get service in Cape town if you're white or can be positively identified as a foreign currency carrying overseas visitor. In the absence of obvious evidence then waiters and waitresses tend to revert to skin colour as an indication.
Blacks can get served in CT, I've seen it happen.

WTF theres a 'discrimination against men' slide too

*faints*

So you refused to even look at the evidence I provided to substantiate my point?

To quote from your post:
If you think that any rational discussion can proceed after a statement like that you are deluded.
Having a rational discussion is even more impossible when people in said discussion don't bother to look at very easily obtainable evidence.

I would just like to point out that Physics is built on observation, and sometimes you have to be invited to observe something.

I read the Professor's quote out of context (as presented in the article). May I suggest you reading Nick's post, then mine, then my response to yours.

Yes, facepalm right back at ya.

But you are more than welcome to carry on debating your point to me. Not sure why you trying to change my mind when I actually agree with you.

What would you call someone who willing ignores the evidence provided?

Maybe moron is too strong of a word, I think gullible fool is better.

It' so tiresome that whenever someone makes a controversial argument these days that goes against the liberal mainstream (which in this case appears to have been done with what appears to be an honest attempt to find data and research to back the claims) the de rigeur response is not (as one would hope for in an enlightened environment) to counter and refute the claims with better data or research, it is rather to become offended, outraged and demand shrilly that they are "de-platformed", fired, generally vilified or expelled from all further interaction. This is neither rational, nor civilized.

Welcome to the 21st century...

Now go wind down with a good movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/

Of course it is. You're delusional if you think I said otherwise.

And I never said it wasn't affected by physiology. Funny how you can put words in my mouth but I'm delusional if I put words in yours.
