He made the statement as evidence for discrimination against woman. Take 30 seconds to look at the slides that he shared to see the context for the statement.

In what universe are they raise and socialised to believe that. Where is that message coming from? I think women are raised and conditioned to believe in a patriarchy that doesn't exist.

Reminds me of that black, British DJ who came over here and proclaimed CT the most racist city in the world. Even the blacks were racist! Funnily enough I just found the service in CT is shyt and unfriendly. Now how do you distinguish between unfriendly service and racism? I sincerely doubt anyone was calling him racist slurs or asking him to go around to the back door for service. If you firmly believe you are being discriminated against you will see discrimination in every negative interaction.

I'm talking about straight guys that could have become hairstylists, but didn't because it's "gay".

You really think social factors don't affect career choices? Many kids go to medical school, become CAs etc. because of the social capital these careers command, not just the money. It works the otherway around too.

It's not gay, maybe it is in your background? The level of homophobia, xenophobia etc between white & black south africans is vastly different, maybe you grew up in part of society where this was more of an issue.
 
I remember being in matric and this guy from some fashion design school came to tell us about careers in dressmaking.

The entire presentation was filled with guys (black and white) muttering under their breath what a fag he was, and mocking the other gay guys in the class.

At the end of the presentation, not one boy took a leaflet, even the gay ones.

But sure, keep pretending that how society sees certain careers doesn't affect people's choices.

You can't actually underestimate the malicious intent of the left and the MSM.

All tactics are fair game when someone dares to question the new orthodoxy.

I'm going to ignore the first part as I'm chalking that up to agree to disagree.

This part however is where you're wrong again. It possible to be discriminated against without being shown the rear door or other overt means. Maybe the DJ found the oft repeated claim that you only get service in Cape town if you're white or can be positively identified as a foreign currency carrying overseas visitor. In the absence of obvious evidence then waiters and waitresses tend to revert to skin colour as an indication.

Strange, I suspect I'm way older than you but I knew of at least two straight guys that went into clothing design, nobody thought they were gay for doing that. The one guy I lost track of the other just started another new company in the US.

I really wonder where you went to school at.
