Champix (Quit Smoking)

Oh my f*** I think I'm dying! :'(
Had to shift my quit date cause my landlady decided to tell me (just before a job interview) that she wants to use the space I'm living in and I must be out by end Oct.
Today has been my 1st day without a smoke in over 20 years. Had to ask my bf to leave or I would have ended up begging him to go buy for me (he's a non-smoker).
This morning wasn't too bad but I've been getting increasingly uncomfortable since around 1pm. I know I'm doing well but I feel like I'm gonna start crawling up the walls. Got bubble wrap and a stressball to keep my hands busy.

Well....it is now 5 days basically and smoke free. As I go along I find I am not constantly thinking of getting a ciggie. Specially if I am distracted by something else. Seems this Vice Breaker really does take the edge off. :-) Gonna finish the bottle anyway just to keep me level and when it is finished hope I dont have a nervous breakdown or some kind of psychotic event :-)

After 30 years of daily cigarette and weed smoking, I have quit both, it's been a week, I have no desire to smoke any more, but one of the withdrawal symptoms I am experiencing is that I am salivating like a croc watching a deer approach ! (and it is upsetting my tummy lol)

ps: I am not eating more, and other people smoking does not bother me, it was simply time to stop

I don't smoke but these 'vivid dreams' sound quite tempting :D

Lol when I said that drugs that alter the mind and cause vivid dreams in the lsd thread and hence later become drugs of abuse people said I'm mad :(

I admire that will power. As a medical professional myself I have been unable to quit (I've tried) and now I don't care lol. Though what I want to point out is, if you don't have this mindset if you consider champix or zyban they WILL NOT work. So if you considering getting these drugs keep this in mind. They are very expensive and nothing makes me more sad than seeing patients wasting money or being taken advantage of for sales.

That's why I prefer government hospitals to work in I'm not forced to prostitute my profession. Yes I earn 40% less but each penny I earn is for a job well done, for me there is no price on that :)

How you finding it ? Have you tried zyban by any chance?

It's now now the end of day 4, start of day 5. I have calmed down a lot. I've learned how to control myself. That first day...it was very hard for me. I've never really tried quitting before. I get phantom smoke smells and of course the impulses to smoke are still there for now.

I find the mornings are much easier to handle without thought of a smoke than from around 1pm. That's when I have the most impulses. But been keeping my mind busy and every time I feel that urge I turn my mind around and ignore it.

A friend of mine took Zyban and quit smoking, he had a few cigars after but he visited last wkend and he didn't smoke at all. The Doc I saw recommended champix, for 6 months.
I intend to keep with my scheduled dose. Heard far too many stories of those that thought a month was enough and failed.
I have been taking the 2nd pill a bit earlier the past 2 days, which seems to help during the day at least.

cool, all doctors will recommend champix now the drug companies have them eating out of their palm.

I am 4 weeks clean! Yay me! My boyfriend and I have been celebrating these first small steps by going out to eat yummy food in the non-smoking sections of restaurants (it felt so weird the first time I said 'non-smoking').

I got used to most of the side-effects, headaches and joint pain decreased but now it seems they're coming back. Not sure why but it kinda sucks. I hope they go away again because my mood swings are particularly terrible. I've always had a short temper but the past few days have been quite nasty.

Everyone tells me it gets easier from here so I'm trying to stay positive.

And WOW I didn't quite realise how terrible smokers stink! I apologised to my bf for putting up with me for 5 years as a smoker (he's never smoked). The smell of a lit cigarette is still a bit tempting but I haven't given in.

I've also noticed that I forget to take my afternoon pill at the same time I used to. Then I suddenly realise I haven't taken it yet and immediately eat and take it.

Does anyone else find that the morning pill still makes them woozy? I have to eat and take mine and lay down for an hour before I can start my day. And if I don't eat enough breakfast I throw up :(

I was smoking 4 - 5 mini cigars a day. I'm now down to 2 cigars a WEEK just like cigars are meant to be smoked! What helped me was getting sweets shaped like cigarettes and munching on one of those every time I had a craving. It satisfies the crave completely.

Has anyone gotten flu or a sinus infection while on champix? Did you find you felt worse than you normally would?

Half way through week two for us, both started last Monday. Colleague and I are both miserable anyways so not sure if Champix has made it any worse, but don't feel any different however. Anyways, from this Monday we are only allowed to smoke in the evenings, next week it is going to be every other evening and the following week just weekends or stop if sooner.

As all have said, the cravings dissipate but are definitely still there. The most difficult part is when you are by yourself to say no because you are not really letting anyone else down :D

Hey there, I have been trying to kick the habit for ages but lack will power.... so Champix here I am.
I have finished month 1 and now in week 2 of the 2nd month......
I have never been a heavy smoker but a smoker is a smoker.
To be honest in the beginning I felt very nauseous, battled to sleep.....
now i sleep well, just can't get enough sleep - always tired.... nauseous for about 10 mins after taking the morning dose.
I gym a lot in the morning so take it after, because my heart rate goes mad if I exercise just after taking it. DEPRESSED only when I am on m own, no suicidal tendencies as of yet, but am feeling pretty worn out.

Day 4 clean on Champix.

I've never felt this good since WP won the Currie Cup. :)

Tried it twice, no side-effects, just a bit tired for about 15 mins with the morning one.
Didn't work for me on both occasions. I didn't eveen feel like cutting down. Utter crap imo.

Yesterday was the biggest test.... Watching the rugby in the smoking section of a very nice restaurant.

After smoking for 20 years, first time I did not smoke in the smoking section. :)

Just feel incredible!!

Can't believe I screwed up so many years of my life with smelly clothes, bad skin, bad breath, bad teeth and poor health.

But that is changing now... :)
