Checkers testing Xtra Savings Plus subscription service

Have you read what the offer is all about?
For R99 Rand, you get a 10% discount INSTORE (max R200).
That means if you are buying INSTORE once a month and your trolley is anything between R990 and R2000, you have subsidized all your online deliveries for the month.
I wonder if all promotions will be excluded and this only applies to full priced items?
cannot be used in tandem with other promotions

In my experience, it applied to all items on special as well

I shopped a trolley and the total at tillpoint was about R2300. Then when I swiped my XtraSavings Card and it deducted the discounts for everything that was on special (about R150) plus another R200 (10% capped at R2000) and I paid R1950.
The only minor catch is that you have to activate the 10% inside the app if you want to redeem it for that specific shopping excursion. Typically you would activate it for it for the biggest basket possible so you don't waste it when shopping a small basket instore.

I don't leave the shop without checking my till slip because on the days I don't and without fail, something is wrong.
Will have to implement the same strategy, and hopefully go back and sort yesterday's out, tomorrow.

Checkers I find usually aren't as problematic as Pick 'n Pay are with discounts not being taken off.

Pick n` Pay without fail there is something wrong. Then you have to go and stand at customer care to get authorization to get the overcharge refunded. Once you at the refund counter the person helping you then has to go on a 10 minute mission to locate a manger to actually authorize the refund. Coupled with that Pick n` Pay is becoming the most expensive to shop at no wonder the store is always empty.

If you sign up for the R99 launch offer, will they eventually increase the amount and when? Is there any promise that you will get locked in at this amount?

How does this work when paying at the till, do you activate it in the app and then they scan in a barcode that gets generated?

I know the cost of living has gone up, but I can't see a shop of R2000 being loaded into1 of those motorbikes.

Really ? Tobacco and alcohol, and you can bet your sweet ass that people are using it for those items.

Two bottles of this and some smokes..... Job done, there are other high value items too, it isn't difficult to exceed 2k with a few items, for every day items perhaps not, but I am sure alcohol and tobacco often make it onto people's lists..........so
yeah no

They can go @#$%@#$% themselves.
With their current XXL savings they advertised several bulk special deals ...then I checked at my local Spar and PnP that many of those deals are available everywhere and f0kke1 purchase sale is required.
Tsek!

Like 3x Lindt chocs at R69.95 each to get one free = R140 for 3 slabs. Comes to R46.67 a slab.
My local spar had same Lindt slabs on special this weekend for R45 each. Zero bulk sales required.

This is interesting, I don't do delivery, but this benefit alone is worthwhile, then maybe I can do delivery for those odd lazy weekends.
Please tell me more on how this works ?

I assume it’s as simple as swiping your Xtra savings card
Could be, well after activating on the app, but for the swipe to work then hopefully its instantly updated on their systems so that one doesn't have to stand around waiting for the discount to reflect on one's profile on the server side. And with the Checkers I go to, I noticed that 3G/4G/5G signal is pretty crappy the further one goes into the store and some of the tills are far away from the entrance so this can be an issue depending on one's cell network.

Will report back once I use it. If i had known about this I could have tried 2 weeks ago when I was in-store. I don't see myself racking up R2000 of spend in-store as I tend to do most of my spend via Sixty60, so I'll probably just be getting R100 off of R1000 spend in-store. Most months I don't even spend anything in-store, will have to make a point of going in specially to use this.

edit: I was too lazy to go in again during June. Will try at some point in July.

You activate it on the app before your next instore shopping when you want to redeem it (by swiping your card).
If, for some reason, you have activated it but then changed your mind upon paying and don't want to redeem it at that stage, they must void the sale, then you can deactivate it on the app and then they ring up the sale again.

It's month to month, you can cancel at any time.

Thanks! Looks like this is worth while for me.
