Hi

So a few days ago we had a break in and the idiots clipped all our computer cables. I have a Cisco router (1700 Series) and the cable it takes is a serial cable. It fits at the back of the router and connects to the Network Terminating Unit (Telkom) Does anyone know where I can get this cable? I called Cisco themselves and not even they know what I'm talking about. The cable has this printed on it (80 low voltage Cisco systems e164571 AWM 2919)

Help appreciated

Pitty you're in JHB - I have 2 or three laying arround here.

It's called a X.21 cable. If you have a WIC-1T (1 Port Serial Interface) in the router, you require the normal DTE Cable, if you hav a WIC-2T (2 Port Serial Interface) you would require a smart serial cable. Lots of people sell them and it should be pretty straight forward to get hold of, even refurbished (TFI comes to mind). Expect in the region of arround R200 to R300 if memory serves me correctly.

What they said above, although check that the WIC is not AS. A new cable is around R700.
