Had 2 disconnections since yesterday. Think most of my problems are because of signal. The authentication problems are funny because on the username associated with the UDT pap dont get the ack back from the auth srv. Use another username on the same UDT and it logs in immediately. Speed still jumps form 1.5 kbytes/s to 20 kbytes/s

Hi all,

Please take note that Shaun is off ill at present and will be back in office on Wednesday or Thursday. He will attend to requests from the forum then.

daffy likes to refer to himself in the third person too!

Why would the guy give his password to someone else,it will cause trouble.

It is quite customary in business that managers give their secretaries full access to their mailbox. As for a password to access myadsl, you only need it if you log out. And who actually bothers to log in and out?

I was at the offices today to fetch the antenna, I asked for Shaun, and was informed he was off sick

I'm Back

Yeah I know what the time is..

Feel great will be trying to get to as much as i possibly can today/night.

Will call all those listed below as promised.

If i missed anyone please mail me your number.

We have had a great response to the work done the weekend i have been informed. The speed seems to have returned to almost all users.

To those still underperforming please mail me your:
Connection module type: UTC/UTB
Location of connection : Full street address
Contact Numbers : Day & Night (Landline & Cellular)
Brief description of the conditions of your connection : speed/day, speed/night, rain etc

Yes we had a few ant.s which i released to the lucky few free of charge.
This was my testing of the units to see what results were achieved.

They work great. I would say around 90% improvement on users who were having signal difficulties. The other 10% were in no signal areas where nothing can be done until new base stations resolve their issues.

ps To someone who refered to me as a cog in a corporate money making machine.

Yes we need to make money, base stations are not cheap. Bandwidth costs a fortune. We need more staff (call centre) so as not to drop your calls.

It will be a while before i can buy my Porche.

Dont just flame people, sometimes i feel as though the forum is more of a problem than our teathing issues. This is wrong, i need to concentrate all my efforts on creating a smooth operations base for WBS. This includes commnication with the community.

Back in good health

Shaun great to have you back fighting fit.

Speed / stability in durban looking great.

There appears to be some traffic shaping affecting certain p2p applications (Torrents). Could you confirm that and could you supply some ideas on how traffic shaping will affect (infect??) our iburst experience in the future. Will iburst traffic shape as per telkom, ie prioritorise 80, 81, 21 etc and leave the rest to fight it out or will you employ measures to slow p2p but leave gaming, voip, vpn ports live and well.

Its good you are back. However, I feel the National Operations Manager for iB has more important things to do than faffing around in Sunninghill after a prospect, especially when at least two other forum members have offered help.

Shaun Green Contact details

Shaun, I cannot find you mail details on the site. I would like to send my details to you as I have not been receiving a signal for last 3 weeks, and have even contacted office to cancel (with one months notice). Please pm me your details.
Thanks

Is the authentication server down? I'm stuck on verifying username and password... 100% signal, 3km LOS.

<edit>Never mind... logged in</edit>

Speed issues have virtualy fallen away.

We are still having some d/l pause d/l pause d/l pause etc

The engineers are telling me that this should be solved by Sat. morning.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Shaun Green

ps. we would never stop anyone from using P2P. I know of some users taking full advantage of the uncapped speeds. NO... I will not tell you what P2P software they are using.

Just for 8321

Maybe i should just hide away and change all my details.

I could be at a party or something good tonight, however, here i am, watching you flame me on nit picky issues.

Yes i have been to peoples houses.

I am not going to stop this practise. You can ask any client where i have payed a site visit. NO COFFEE, NO DRINKS, just help from my side.

Then on to my next stop. The best way of keeping the call centre agents informed of problems that we are having grey hairs about is to go and FIX IT.

Not flaming you. Call me on 877-4719.

There are many aspects of my extremely long days/nights.

Shaun Green

ps - we are receiving at least 48% of our calls from users having;.....

No power to their modems - switched off at plug
Virus infections
Malware, Adware, Spyware infections
Bought modem from reseller and are not in a coverage area
Users not inputing correct login/password detail
Machine / Software errors (not related to the iburst terminal)

Please people check the above before consulting with an agent.

We have 2 more call centre agents starting within a week.

I know our call dropping ration will also drop.

Shaun, then 52% of the users have real issues, if it's a numbers game, I'd concentrate on the 52% rather than the dumbass 48%. WBS can institute an IQ test before they sign up anymore users, would sufficiently cull the stupid people.

As for the speed issues, still having problems, both in Bedfordview and Northcliff. You can have a look @ my signature.

If you try and blame my PC, it's a fresh install of Windows XP Professional, with all security and patches loaded (including that of Microsoft Office Professional) I have the latest virus definitions, and even before this PC got it's internet setup, I had a firewall installed (not the crappy Microsoft one) as well as the best anti-spyware software known.

So I await more excuses. Northcliff I understand, but Bedfordview.... that I can't understand.
