So I have see a few really cool looking mod'ed PC's, not the normal tall gamers chassis with LEDs and lumo fans but the ones with the entire computer mounted inside of the a custom made desk or work station topped off with tempered glass top and mounted triple displays and large water cooling loops. some examples.

I am looking at getting something like this designed and made for me, as I don't have the know how or have the time. Either that or find someone who already makes something like this. What it comes down to is; does anyone have a good idea who or where I can get this done in gauteng? Who sells such a thing? A really detailed guide and designs for anything like this? or lastly another forum which deals with this?

I have tried some research elsewhere but now my second phase of research is to try ask forums more directly. I'll keep this up-to-date with any further info I find.

Doubt you'll find anyone in Gauteng, or anywhere else for that matter, who will do the whole project for you, but you could find a company to cut sheets of aliminium/steel to your specifications e.g. motherboard tray, HDD docks etc (probably similar to l3p), then if necessary contact another company to powdercoat the sheets of aliminium/steel and then assemble those sheets together to get your finished product.

If you are willing to (possibly) pay a bit extra and wait a bit longer you can take a look at the "The Cross", no word on the price as yet, but it will be commercially available worldwide. When it does release you could contact their sales team and ask for a basic desk without the watercooling or multi-monitor setup.

Unless you have lots of money to spend I doubt it would be financially viable for someone to do this assuming you are willing to pay for it all. The materials are not too expensive but it's the time that's an issue and costs big $$$. That's why you only see this stuff on hobbyist sites where people don't care about their time.

How much would you be willing to pay for this, honestly?

Well that's what I'm planning on researching, to try get a rough cost idea, find someone who would be willing to do it, and find a design to fit my rough budget. I expect it should cost around R10 000-R15 000 excluding the PC stuff ( I would use my current set up and add a complete water cooling loop to it, no H100) The idea is that you could upgrade at any time as it will fit standard sizes.

So the ideas I've got so far is to investigate to see if a industrial engineer would do the designing from a brief and get a metal works to construct it. a cheaper idea would also be to get a pre-constructed ( wood or metal ) desk and work with that. But I'm still looking out for more ideas.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction(s) or be able to help out them selves (at a cost of course). My CAD work is mediocre at best ( using google sketchup) hence needing someone else to help.

Always thought this would be kind of cool

Hehe that is quite epic. One of my friends at University didn't have a PC case, so he built his PC into his drawer of his desk :D

The necro is strong with this one :D

edit: although if I had seen this when it was first posted, I would have gladly helped
