It's the same for all of them.. like chrome, fire fox, opera and IE... like I don't know why.. mm.. I thought it might has something to do with the internet settings.. (If you know what I mean..)

make sure the proxy settings in Firefox are set to none

@ Kaisterkai: Your profile states your occupation as "Computer Sales", shouldn't you know the answers to your questions?

Well I know a bit about computers (As in the parts and how to build Etc...)

but software wise, I only know a little.. but doesn't matter..

I'll try out to change.. I guess just leave it..

um.. there is another question... my cap.. this month is already on 700MB.. I was wondering if there is something called: "stealing cap" because it's always that I run out before the end of the month.. it's really getting annoying... but someone said chaning the password.. and I did... but now it's doing the same.. (I have 3 computers at home.. ) but I don't know whether the computer just updates or does it do something by itself..

Yip people are able to steal your cap, make sure you change the password on your router as well, then change the ISP password again, It could be programs updating, thats why I like zoneAlarm, no program has access to the net unless ZA asks you

I thought zone alarm was some kind of anti virus... but you know stealing cap.. I actually went to go ask about that at telkom, and they said that it's impossible to get your cap stolen, because has soon as someone tried to hack. they will know..

But I don't know whether they are just saying that for the fact that it's telkom we're talking to.. and they don't want to cause trouble etc..

But zone alarm.. what does it actually do? I ran out of international cap.. so I can't search..
So if you can explain to me.. that would be great!

THanks

Well I can assure you that is BS, there have been a few threads on myBB as well

Think of ZoneAlarm as a guard (firewall) at the gate (internet connection) its asks you if its should allow friends (your programs) in or out and its keeps criminals (viruses and hackers) out

Sigh.. I thought telkom was just trying to get their tail out.. sigh..

If it's the old telkom 5102g then you can click "Quick start" after logging it. The only info you need for this wizard is username and password. But of the screens (Step 3) will allow you to choose connection method. Be sure to select PPPoE and not Bridge. Leave all other fields as is.

But I think you're having a problem with DNS settings. MXIT PC will work, but not web addresses. Try pinging. Or try typing in the following number in your browser 209.191.93.53

Viruses may also cause the DNS problems you appear to be having.

I see.. so it just stops data from outside coming in? So I don't need to change any setting if I play an online game or something?

You know all of that sounds really confusing... um is it possible to explain it less detail? What is DNS? (if you don't mind ^ ^ Thanks)

In IE go Options > Internet Options and mess around with some of those settings until IE connects right away.

No it will ask you the 1st few times, but if you click "Remember the setting" and "allow" or "denie" then it wont ask you again for that program or game

I tried going through.. but nothing really seem like it's going to change it.. I guess it's fine now. I'll just disconnect and reconnect the network everytime..

Thanks anyway..

In your IE,go to tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings

Make sure automatic settings are ticked and the other two boxes are not ticked.

then go Back to tools -> Internet Options -> Connections

Make Sure Never dial a connection is set.

then go start -> run

type cmd and hit enter, once in command prompt type

netsh winsock reset

and

ipconfig /flushdns

after all of that restart your machine and try again.

Are you talking about window7? Because I know window 7 allows you to do that... but I'm talking about XP... Because I had window 7.. (and have it now.. again..) and everytime it connects to the network, it connects to the internet... so window 7 is no problem.. but XP doesn't do that.. it doesn't connect to anything.. unless you say dial the connection..
