As far as I know origin is local with akamai unless the local akamai nodes are full and you are being served with an internation server. Should still be multithreaded so should not be slow.
My download was flying last night so the download is local as my international is dead at night. It is most likely slow as a result of the number of people trying to download it.

Why is Coolideas so quiet on this thread or have I been missing their feedback in-between all the posts?

I dont think its my line at all, because its been flawless since it was installed on the 6th of July 2018.

This is my iperf from this morning, so not exactly in line with those tests last night.

200/200 to save the hassle from scrolling through the thread.

Yes, congestion will cause packet loss. Do single thread again now it should be good.

Hi seems like mine is downloading from overseas and not local and if you look at all the connections Origin makes to download the game one would have expected much more speed.

And yes, guess the game is being downloaded a lot. just don't think to this extend of speed.

Another resident for jitterville. Welcome friend. It is nice to know I'm not alone in having issues in Claremont.

Right? I realised that a while back. I keep comparing Octotel to Telkom but honestly, thats doing a disservice to Telkom/Openserve. Even here in Cape Town they seen to be doing ok.
I've always had good service from Telkom.

That is interesting, maybe as cavedog said the local nodes might be full and you are being redirected to international servers. Maybe pause and start the download to see whether the servers change.

Hey

Tried it, but will do it again, maybe something opens up. :)

So checked mine quickly and also looks like an international IP from level3 but could be locally cached though because it goes from JHB to cpt IXP. That said speeds for me seem fine on Supersonic.

I know that congestion will cause packet loss, was just stating that the iperfs weren't very indicative of the situation at 1am when doing the speed tests :)
