Thanks. Managed to get on. Just testing it out to see if it actually helps.
It helps with not much in my case for Apex it makes my London/Amsterdam and Frankfurt ping worse and makes the Belgium & Findland better. I take the +10 to 15ms increase to ensure Finland is below 200 and Belgium is 155 to 160 vs the 160

I made the post below on websquad so that you can see what is possible on cool ideas if you can just get vultr capacity to Singapore

Ok here i go!

You guys at websquad are lucky since you do not have to use a relay server like i do. Since you already have direct capacity to Singapore.

The problem that you have (same as some other VPS company's in South africa) you only have transit to some ip's in Singapore.

So the solution is to Host your own VPN in Singapore and you will just use that as a gateway to apex servers.

That will guarantee that you get a low ping to all IP's in Singapore. And the nice thing about Singapore servers are they are all in the same zone. Not like EU when you select London and you land on Frankfurt.

I Currently use https://www.vultr.com/

You can test ping to it at https://sgp-ping.vultr.com/ or just to ip :45.32.100.168

Looking at websquads looking glass

[joburg.lg.as328137.net] ping to 45.32.100.168

SEQ HOST SIZE TTL TIME STATUS

So in summary you will get ping to your VPS in Singapore of

JHB : +- 117
CPT: +- 132
DBN: +- 126

I use the 3rd option at https://www.vultr.com/products/cloud-compute/#pricing

That is 1 gig ram 1 cpu and 1000 gig data that works out at max $5.75($5 + vat of 0.75) per month if you run your vps 24/7 the whole month. Since vultr only charge you if you use your VPS at them. I run mine 24/7 :)

Choose Server : Cloud Compute
Server location: Singapore

Server type: Ubuntu 21.10 x64
And Server size : $5

Then you just run wireguard on your vps.

And that can be done very easily with this Wireguard road warrior script for multiple users.

https://github.com/Nyr/wireguard-install

And then you run wireguard on your pc when you want to play in Singapore. Since your ping will be low for any game you play in Singapore.

The end result for me playing from Pretoria : And i have to use a relay server in JHB since i am with a different ISP and that adds a few ms

You would obviously just have low ping to singapore.

I am running this whole thing on my Opensense router and routing all Singapore IP's to my VPN in Singapore and all other IP's over my defualt ISP.

But that is a whole different setup :)

Hope this helps! And you can make as many Wireguard profiles on your vps as you want to share with your friends at websquad and it will cost you Max $5.75 a month as long as you use less than 1000gig.

I hope this makes sense ! I typed this really fast since we have loadshedding in 5 mins.
Hi Everyone, Im new here, I just got my Vultr VPS in singapore and realized I have no what what I am doing, is there someone that can help me set this up over Discord, I am on Afrihost and get low ping on apex menu but not ingame and so I used exitlag but there ping spike are horrible

Thanks. Managed to get on. Just testing it out to see if it actually helps.
If you're looking for lower pings, I can't say it's really helped. However, for games like Rainbow 6 Siege on console whereby you want to play in a more populated region (EU), it's brilliant.

Yeah, it didn't improve my latency at all.

Hello,

What latency do you get to your own vultr ip In Singapore?

Or in general to this IP: (45.32.100.168)

Your ISP needs to have routing to vultr's datacenter thats +- 115 ms from JHB for that to work.

Last time i checked only websquad had direct routing to singapore.

Cool Ideas doesn't route to singapore in general. Sometimes you will find that you get +-120 ping in the server selection screen but high ping in-game. I think you have the same problem with afrihost.

Hi there Luckystrike and thanks for your response. I get a constant 335ms from Newcastle (which is equally between JHB and Durban) to that Ip which means Afrihost doesnt not have constant routing as I get 122 on server menu without exit lag. I was willing to do a vultr vps in Singapore and one either in durban or JHB as you did just to test things out and see if its better than exitlag. With exitlag things are good in the beginning lowest I get is 135ms ingame but most times it will go up to 150 or 160. Once someone has guided me through the process once. I wanted to try belgium aswell as I get 220 to 240 if I play EU. I have 200mb fiber with a constant 7ms to google in JHB which fustrates me as on Afrihost mtn LTE use to get 40ms to google JHB and 180 to EU which tells me Vuma or Afrihost are messing up with the routing somewhere and there is room for improvement.

I ran a couple of ping tests from JHB using https://www.cloudping.cloud/aws using all the vpns I had access to.
Best gaming VPN I have access to exitlag but you can't run this site against it

So most of the realistic variances are just using the SAFE cable system IE East? :)

So we were the first ISP to turn up SACS capacity, and we had more complaints than compliments due to certain games forcing the use of the region with the lowest latency.

IE games with low numbers of players due to major time and as well as language differences.

So the same would apply if we turned up capacity on SAFE typically.

Unless every game allowed you to choose your region it ends up being tricky.
