I hope it happens sooner than later.
The guys at the cell c shop told me that they were sure it would be here by the end of this month. But that's just all speculation i suspect.
Anyway, waiting, un-patiently......... :D

Is there stable 3G coverage for Cell C in Mossel Bay ?
Anyone live there, been there recently or the Cell C rep. that can confirm this ?

Have looked at the map, but it's not all that clear from it or their legend.

I live on a farm out on the R24, and wouldn't mind a tower on our farm! ha ha, best signal ever. Who can I contact to offer up some real estate?
 
Funny thing, can only access the mybroadband site on my phone. The only site that loads, not even google loads in rustenburg. Come on cell c, help out a bit

I'm just trying to find out, all these months later since this thread was started, if Cell C have 3G active in Mossel Bay?

I posted on Coverage Queries, pg 25, post # 362 this a.m. & sent a PM later on to the Cell C rep, but no word as yet.

It seems Cell C has lost momentum with it's roll-out of xG (x= any number above 2!) since Lars left.

Not having proper 8ta coverage, patchy VC coverage and even worse MTN coverage forces me to Hellkom...
 
I agree, and the Rustenburg saga is a good illustration of that, with promises unfulfilled a year after this enormously fast-growing city was promised a connection. On my own doorstep east of Rustenburg, we had Cell C engineers here three months ago investigating putting up a tower, which they said could be up and running within a matter of weeks. So far not even a valid land rental agreement has been signed. Have they indeed run out of steam on their highly-trumpeted rollout promises?
 
Has anyone noticed any changes to the Cell C coverage map over the past two months? Seems the rollout has really came to a standstill, but then again, the recent price increase probably resulted in possible new customers jumping ship.

hey Terence, have you heard anything more about cell c in Rustenburg? Seems the promises made to me by the store haven't come true, not that I really believed them!

Sabie!!! White River is a much larger metropolis and still does not have a hint of HSPA from Cell C!!:p

Please can you PM me your address will check area coverage.
If it is in a light pink area you wont get HSDPA.
You some time can get a antenna that can assist.

Non renewal because of broken promises

Cell C staff in what is still said to be 'South Africa's fastest growing city', Rustenburg, have been now been embarrassed for more than a year to constantly have to say that 'high speed data is coming'. Those promises have been unfulfilled for more than a year and it's still no closer in the city or in the surrounding areas.

So with regret I join those who are jumping ship to another provider. A pity, because like many others I really thought they were getting it together with their installation drive a year ago. But then the steam just seemed to go out of it.
 
I am in the same boat as you Terence.
I took out a contract with a phone, hoping for fast internet on phone and with a modem, but yes like you say, they cannot give us a date or even confirm it will ever come to Rustenburg.

Just would like to see that area and just find out some info.
I know you have made your mind up, just would like to check.
As well can use as example why this need to be sorted out.
As we don't want to lose customers.

I am also disappointed with the HSDPA rollout. I was reading an article that claimed the whole Southern Peninsula would be covered by HSDPA by end 2010. It is 2012 now and I can hardly get an Edge connection where I live in Noordhoek. Voice connectivity is also pathetic. My wife an I have to force our phones onto the Vodacom network to be able to carry out a conversation.
