Today's trivia

The first international cricket match in history was played between those noted cricketing powerhouses, Canada and the USA. It happened in New York’s Bloomingdale Park in September 1844, and is widely regarded as the first ever international sporting match of any kind. (Canada won by 23 runs.)
 
Pakistan 140/5 with both Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan back in the hut. I was quite certain that the SL 320 was a little lean and vulnerable to the Pakistan batting line up. I am proven wrong.

Before JK8 thinks I am one of his converts, I am quite pleased to see SL doing well, especially as this is Jayawardene's last test outing. Go boys!

Off come the bails, and it's been an enthralling day that ends with Pakistan still 76 behind with Sarfraz playing a brilliant, inventive innings to keep them in the game. Rangana Herath leads Sri Lanka off the field, and he's been exceptional today, teasing the batsmen all day long, testing their footwork, their mind, their techniques. He looked likely to take a wicket even when Ahmed Shehzad and Azhar Ali were looking well-set during their second-wicket partnership, and once that came to an end he's produced a few absolute stunners, particularly the balls that dismissed Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq. [-]Alastair Cook called James Anderson the most skilful bowler in the world, but even he might change that opinion if he watches Herath's highlights tonight.[/-]

Absolutely NO contest. Compare James Anderson's test career over the last five years away from home here with that of Dale Steyn over the same period also away from home here

Alastair Cook is off his freakin rocker in equating James Anderson with the Phalaborwa Express.

"Absolutely no contest" could also be used to describe India's woeful performance ... 43/5 off 25 overs at lunch.

I wonder if James's away stats would also look a bit better if he could bowl against zimbabwe?

Jimmyboy has played more test vs Zim then Steyn has...

Only place besides england anderson averages under 30 is UAE. Interestingly enough the only places Steyn average 30 is england and the UAE...

Remove Zimbabwe then. Just a month ago Steyn got 9 in a match, IN Sri Lanka. Anderson is mediocre when compared to him and that's a fact, he's only decent in England, when all the planets are aligned...
