Cricket: International Discussion Thread

Remove Zimbabwe then. Just a month ago Steyn got 9 in a match, IN Sri Lanka. Anderson is mediocre when compared to him and that's a fact, he's only decent in England, when all the planets are aligned...

Hi Mike, I don't deny that Steyn is currently no1, stats don't lie.
As long as he is kept wrapped in cotton wool and suffers no more injuries he will stay no1, even if he can play as much matches as Jimmyboy before he retires or his rankings start to drop.

Anderson plays more matches because England plays more matches. Hardly Steyn's fault...

I wonder if James's away stats would also look a bit better if he could bowl against zimbabwe?

Troll alert! Oh wait. Sorry. It's Churchill. James' without the extra "s" only performs when the conditions are good in England, after it's rained, when it's cloudy and against weak opposition ;)

Nah, give Jimmy his due... he is technically an excellent bowler. Probably the best swing bowler around today.

But I come back to my point about the balls being used....

Do they use different types of balls around the world? I always thought it was the same all round.

Another forumite claimed that Jimmyboy has played more test matches then Steyn against Zim, all I asked for was proof?
Unless he/she is going for post count to try score a mybroadband hoodie and posting smack talk

You're the one who claimed that Steyn's stats are good because he's been ripping into Zimbabwe, so you should expect the smack talk. Perhaps if you bothered to check things before posting... ;)

Depends whether we are talking conventional swing or reverse swing. He is probably best at conventional swing but Steyn is much better at reverse swing.

Agree.

Kookaburra: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh

I know it's a SA forum and I disrupt you one eye'd saffers now and then, but I'm not troll. I love my sport.
I see some of you chaps are in JHB, we should have a beer some time.

And the Duke swings like a boomerang?
The Duke has a hand sewn seam while the Kookaburra's is machine stitched. The Duke's seam stays proud for much longer and the ball does not go "soft" as quickly as the Kookaburra.

In English conditions the Kookaburra would be like a piece of soap in no time...

But yes, it does swing more!!!

Sounds good to me :)

All I asked was, if jimmy could also improve his ratings by playing against opposition like zim. I claimed nothing

Stumps - Day 4

Sri Lanka 320 & 282
Pakistan 332 & 127/7 (40.0 ov)

Pakistan require another 144 runs with 3 wickets remaining

Herath is leading the damage again. An amazing 9/127 in the first innings and 4/46 so far in the second. Seems that this might well be a fairy tale departure for Mahela Jayawardene. This will be pretty special.
