i am a sometime smith basher and i have to say that those stats have led me to reflect about my attitude towards him. He also still has an average in the high 48s.

Now they better not capitulate tomorrow.

Its fine to bash someone with reason, or to point out a poor performance. But what I dont get is the type of people that were calling for Smith to go after the 1st day of this test. Its those people that should rather not watch test cricket, cause they are just wasting their time.

Supersport had some Smith stats up last night - Fastest SA batsman to (the rather abitrary number) 5500 - 67 tests, vs Kallis 76 and Gibbs 77. Most 200+ opening partnerships (tied with Hayden). Impressive stuff.

It's pretty easy to forget how young he really is, and yeah, his batting can be oversghadowed by his attitude. :)

Yeah the thing is he strikes form 65% of the time :p

But he is going to be one of SA's greatest bats ever.....

He is learning to do the talking on the field :)

Think he will just keep getting better and better every year as captain and player :)

only foolishness of the highest order would see us lose now. in fact i wonder when england will offer us the draw?

I think this comment was a bit premature... especially considering that when it was said we were still behind England's first innings score... remember it only takes 9 balls to get 9 wickets!

Now it looks more likely but still not a certainty but it is just under 3 hours later....

Okay, good luck with that. What are the terms - what benchmark does Broad have to reach before you expect an apology? .... :)
Put in calendar, will get back to u in 2012
Sir Lancelot hereby decrees that he will be lucky to get 200 runs..... :)

And I'll have you know I am sticking my neck out a lot further than you based on his recent form! ;)
:p:p:p KP almost got that in the 1st test. Is that what u meant?;)
No he doesn't

Yes he does.

Wait, now I am confused!

No, he doesn't.

Yes he will. Something...

Yes he does, I'll argue again next week, going away for a few days.

I expect an apology / retraction by then.

Expecting a retraction by 2012 is very different from expecting one this week. So, we're agreed that Broad is no McGrath just yet? :)

Damn, no cricket today. Can't wait till Friday. :)

yes.

I said in a few years time, not now.
He may be more of a Pollock i.e. a McGrath who can bat.

We know what you said. ;)

2012 - We shall revisit this here thread.:)

Very nice that our boys showed some fight there, England's bowlers will be a bit tired.
Panesar's going to have a sore hand after 60 overs.

I just wonder if they're doing the right thing by playing Freddie in the next match.
If he breaks down they'll be rather sorry.
They should play him at #6 if he plays and drop Collingwood..

Well done to our cricket players, for grafting a draw. Hopefully they would've learnt their lesson now, and not do that again. We have a real good chance of taking the series.
