We had a chance to take the series with the ball yesterday, but did not take it.

Will have a chance to take it with the bat today.

also dont see where we "went all doom and gloom":rolleyes: just an honest assessment of one bad session..

Here we go Bob :

Very dissapointing. With England at 104/4 we had a chance to take the series, but we let it slip.

My assessment of "we let it slip" is that the chance has gone. Maybe I misinterpreted you or you need to be sure the words you say are what you mean...

Records are made to be broken. Test cricket ebbs and flows from session to session. If SA wins every session the game would be over in 3 days but it's unrealistis to expect SA to win every test in 3 days.

Having said that we won every session barring the last 2 yesterday so perhaps England have rested the initiative and momentum from us some what. England will have to bowl pretty damn well on this wicket to force the win and weather permitting there should be a result which makes for a very entertaining 2 days ahead.

I stick by my prediction that we will be chasing 220-240 for victory and provided our openers see off the new ball we will win with 3/5 down... If we lose early wickets the pressure could tell on the middle order and England could pull this one out the fire...

exactly, just dont agree on one point. I think we only lost 1 session yesterday :)

Yeah perhaps you right, 1 yesterday and the last session the day before when Flintstone... eh Flintoff was bowling...

what I meant by "we let it slip" is the chance we had yesterday, when england were 104/4 and just 21 runs ahead, that chance right there is the one we let slip. If we bowled better then, and got more wickets, we could have been batting already just trailing by 120 or around there.

And now we have another chance. Thats how cricket works.

Yip, robbed by the third umpire - I would love to know his reasoning for not giving that...

Done and dusted... 280 to get... nice little total that! :)

EDIT : Well let's rather aim for 281 shall we! :)

Looking forward to seeing us chase this down and win the test series. :)

This'll be the first time since re-admission?

we should be slight favourites to take this test. there's enough time for us not to need to chase and thus enter into rash shots. the pitch also looks to be behaving well.

yup, first series win since 1963.

Still have to do it though. But thats the sorta stuff you have to do if you want to beat the best, and become the best.

Well, I said we were going to have a 125-150 run lead so I was short on that. I said we'd chase 200 and we have to get 281 so I was short on that. I was reasonably accurate though in England getting some good innings and scoring in excess of 300.

Graeme Smith with 1000 runs in 2008 from 17 innings so far. Leading run scorer so far, albeit he's had a few (4) more innings than the next highest run scorer.

Keep it up Smith! :D

This year?
Isn't that just against England in his career?
