No he never wanted them to bat longer. He has hoping they would declare.

I think england may have made a huge mistake, they have given the aussies a sniff, the last thing you do is give aus a sniff at victory.

They're sniffing 17 for 1 right now.
Katich out.

Yea they do it on purpose to make people get dstv, for me i will rather skip a weekend of partying and sit at home to pay for my dstv, i get so much value for 500 bucks a month from dstv that sitting home for one weekend so i can pay for dstv is actually lekka with all the sport :).

I would rather have a month of dstv and miss a weekend of fun than not have dstv.

I only watch about 8 hours a week, mostly rugby.
So not really worth it.
They show every single game, it's just international cricket they don't really show much of.

Yea but for someone who loves cricket that must suck :D

Damn hughes out. I guess though i should be supporting the english because if the aussies lose the series we go number 1 i think.

Well, they do show lots of 20/20 cricket. :)

England will be happy with 5 wickets today.

Hahaha alf, so when they do show cricket its only 20/20 :D

Aussies will happy with 300 odd for 4 down i reckon :p

Well, I'm at work when most of the test cricket is on, so can't watch anyway.

The last day of Britsh open golf they will be showing will be interesting for a change.
Goosen in with a shot, and the 59 year old Tom Watson in the lead.

Is it just me or has slow bowling became a much greater weapon than it has been in the past.

OMW the aussies are within site of the total, the english need a wicket badly.

219 to win with 5 wickets in hand and plenty of time.

Great game so far. Ashes is the pinnacle of cricket. Great having Warne in the commentary box

Sadly dubious wickets are part of the game.

Yea warne is a very good commentator. Pity i have to work today :(. Hope the aussies break the world record today because for me they are most only team in world test cricket who would go for 522 and not try bat it out.

True. It's just a pity that there've been so many against Aus in this game. Let's face it - if it was an Aussie that claimed that Strauss catch we'd be having a field day accusing them of cheating.

Yea but they have a history of bending the rules, remember in india both teams had that claimed catch rule and the indians ended that becuase the aussies claimed more than one catch that never went to hand, then remember brad haddin in the series over hear when his gloves where infront of the bails?

I have a very bad feeling today though that the english should have gone pro 20 style for 10 overs before declaring. They gave the aussies a sniff at victory and they may well live to regret that. 522 in 2 days is really not a large total to chase on a good pitch. 203 or something they need today.

True - I just think everybody (well, the commentators at least) have been giving Strauss a little too much leniency. I find it hard to believe that he would not have felt the ball on the ground.

522 is a much larger target than any other team has ever achieved in the fourth innings (though the way Duminy batted in that Perth test I wouldn't have bet against us).

But like Ponting/Clarke said, records are there to be broken. :)

I think I'm starting to feel a little ill. It will probably get really bad around 11:30, so I'll have to leave around 11:45 and go to one of my sources of medication for relief :D

I have this 'nasty' feeling that if Clarke can hang around until lunch, the Aussies may yet win.
