In order to be in the England international Cricket team, surely you need to be a British citizen.

Guys like, Trott might have been born in SA, but looking at his parents, grand parents (family tree): they are and he is English.

I would like to check out some British newspaper sites for the headlines. The English media can be very outspoken.

Give me the names of a couple of the Big English newspapers.

nvm. Google turned up with what I need.

Ummm, no. Trott, Pietersen and a few others who play for other countries left SA in their 20's. Having British ancestry doesn't make you British...it just makes your request for citizenship and ultimately a passport easier. You still have to apply and go through 'naturalisation' (live there a few years) like everyone else.

FAR from being English, since you were born, bred and raised here (and even taught the game here), it just means you have English blood.

Anyway, it matters naught to me. Just as long as we remain number 1 :D

EDIT: I may be mistaken with some of the points above...http://www.workpermit.com/uk/citizenship/born_outside_uk/citizenship_by_descent

They will not fire ponting, anyone with half a brain can see it is not the captaincy letting the aussies down but the lack of talent coming through. If they do fire ponting then they have no brains.

Ricky has a pretty good captaincy record but he does not have the players to dominate world cricket anymore.

Pity england won but we number 1 and when they come here we will destroy them... This is just gonna make them even more arrogant when they really don't deserve it.

If one has English blood, then you are English.

KP , Trott eg: are English South Africans, Englishmen born and raised in SA but got english blood.

Infact would it be correct/fair to say that lots SA sport celebs that are english have helped SA hold up World Cup trophies?

Considering that Englands cricket team needed the help of South Africans to win the Ashes.

Sad story, go's to show, Arrogance brings you nowhere!

Really, how long have they dominated world cricket by being arrogant? i have only been watching for maybe 10-12 years but they have dominated for most of my years of cricket watching.

Go's to show you cannot stay on top forever. Arrogance has nothing to do with it in my opinion, maybe if we had more arrogance we would not under perform the whole the time.

Having "english" blood didn't really have any effect on the way they play the game, BUT where did they learn how to play the game for 15 odd years?

Please show me where english players, who "trained" in england then emigrated to SA to help us win a cup or three ....

Where did he grow up? My lineage barring the last 2 or three generations are french.... it does not make my in anyway french. I am 100% South African... This was the surroundings I grew up in and which shaped me to what I am today.

Uhhhm no.

If I took a baby from the congo and raised it in Italy I am sure it will not be feasting on Boko-Boko nor be speaking french, Kikongo, Lingala, Swahili or Tshiluba.

Also I strongly doubt that without being tought that it has congolese ancestry it will even know that it was not 100% italian (barring maybe the skin colour, which might even be lighter than some of the italian over tanned people :p)
