How long does it usually take telkom to upgrade linespeeds? Logged an INC with CW 8 days ago, still no linespeed upgrade.
Also, looks like I won't be able to get full 40Mbps on my line, but should be stable enough to handle 35Mbps without dropping.
Is CW able to drop the line speed if it's not stable, or will this be handled by telkom?

Please send me a PM with your DSL Line Number or Hop onto live chat, I do recall sending a query off to Telkom about your line however I cannot recall your Telkom Line Number now.

40Mbps upgrades require Telkom techs to switch your port over. It requires intervention at the exchange, so we're at their liberty on these. You can follow up with the team directly because trying to do this from the forum without any info is impossible for me to do. If it's not stable, Telkom's ASSIA system will resync it to a stable speed. ISPs had their access to this sort of function removed a few months ago after certain ISPs abused it while trying to blame Telkom for their own network problems...

No wonder it's taking so long. Getting a telkom techie to an exchange is always a mission.
Thanks for the update

Business capped is intended for business use. Home capped is intended for home use. I know it sounds like I'm being facetious here, but I'm not. It's really as simple as that. Home users should opt for home accounts and business users should opt for business accounts. It makes life much easier for us from a network planning perspective, and also ensures that we're not setting up backend network controllers to try to be jack of all trades but masters of none...

Keep in mind there are people like me that use the account for business and home use. Would the business account have any limitations in regards to home use e.g. streaming, downloads and gaming?

Then business premium is required. On capped it's not a big deal but can influence network planning a bit and the controller profiles manage contention differently. Becomes more problematic on uncapped, so they're wholly separated, and business premium is reserved for this kind of thing...

I meant business capped. But I need the 0:00-6:00 download slot. So I'm looking at the 225 GB business capped standard account as you said the premium doesn't have it.

I've cancelled my WA Business Capped account and will give the CW Business Capped Standard 225 GB account a try. I would have preferred the Premium but it doesn't have the 0:00-6:00 download slot.

Let's see if they will let me out of the calendar month notice period (unlikely).

Btw at the bottom of the product pages is a banner that counts up when you scroll down, what does it mean ("195 Rand per month to you"), since the Business Capped is either R649 or R899?

It's on every page. Its just saying that the cheapest package to get internet is R195.

Well that's not clear at all. I assume they could correct it so it reflects the right amount on each page, surely.

It's advertising on a network-wide basis. Hence the record latency, minimum price, overall non-FTTB speeds etc. It's a marketing band, but we are revamping the site to make these sorts of things clearer...

I figured as much. ;)

Just tested some games on the uncapped account. Oh my goodness, it's perfect. Thank you Crystal Web. Rock on.

Yeah, I have been rocking my uncapped account since the beginning, CW really is on top of their game. Best gaming latency ever, it's just smooth.

Makes you wonder what all the other ISPs have "not" been doing all these years.

One thing I know the other ISP's are providing tailor made packages for gamers and streamers.

Not many of them, and very few seem to be getting it right. Web Africa used to have capped packages orientated for gamers, but those kind of fell by the way side. CrystalWeb does a superb job in ensuring that QoS is top quality for things like gaming.

Just checking if downloads between 00:00 and 01:00 are still being counted in your regular cap? Honestly my only complaint with CW.
