Yeah sorry I was still reading down the list and it seems to have been answered.

I have no idea why all these announcements couldn't just have gone out with the original announce.

Make one email with summaries and web links to each related thing.

Now it's just breeding confusion.

Well to me it's breeding more excitement, creating expectation. But yeh, some have a unrealistic expectation it seems.

In other words, you:
1. don't want to help your favourite ISP get into your area;
2. you don't want to be actively involved in getting yourself fibre as soon as possible;
3. you don't want free internet.

But you do:
1. want the best service;
2. want the fastest internet;
3. want it to be as cheap as humanly possible; (but not free as stated above)
2. you want it tomorrow.

Think I've got it now, thanks.

That's exactly how I feel. I don't have a proactive personality.
Different strokes for different folks.

No, many of the things you list are direct contradictions to what I've said, and besides that you're still missing the entire point. But thanks for trying.

no, i think you were pretty clear. you want CW fibre tomorrow. they can't give it to you tomorrow. so you'll move along. i hear you.

This was a really disappointing announcement for ADSL users. I was hoping to see those price reductions you were talking about. I hope that email is still coming before 17:00

OMG... each to their own... I'm just waiting in anticipation for the other announcements, I quiet like this idea of theirs, although not everyone has the salesman persona, atleast its on option to get fast speed internet access and for free also... If I know CW, this has to be smaller part of much bigger plan for everyone to have high speed internet access.... these guys plan very carefully, how the hell did you all think your'll got your great internet access!!!

if you guys want to troll a thread... go to the openweb one...

I don't understand the upsetness going around. And this is only the first announcement .... but let me ask you this, what were you expecting from the fibre announcement?

They used words like "game changer" and "working with a certain global search engine's fibre team" in their teaser email. That created undue hype. Why allude to the likes of Google, who have billions of Dollars at their disposal and could easily fund massive fibre networks, if that has no bearing on what this announcement actually means to customers? They could have left that bit of info out and the rest of their announcement wouldn't have changed in meaning one bit. It seems a bit silly, no?

I'm afraid this isn't about to turn the industry on its head. Other ISP's already offer monetary compensation in the form of free internet for being a so-called fibre champion, so that's nothing new. While Crystal Web only require 40 homes to be on board to roll out fibre to an area, people seem to be ignoring the fact that there's a massive difference between getting people to express their interest in fibre and selling them ADSL with the (hopeful) end goal of getting fibre to your area if enough people sign up. This would be exciting if Crystal Web said that they will roll out fibre to an area as soon as 40 homes have expressed interest in fibre - perhaps even requiring them to pay their first month's subscription in advance once the target of 40 has been reached to ensure people don't bail at the last minute.

This whole announcement saga reminds me of an episode of Dragon Ball Z...

well. This one is a hit and a miss as far as I'm concerned.

Over the past year and a half, Crystal Web has embarked on a journey to attempt to solve most, if not all, internet related issues that customers face, using cutting-edge technology borne out of the physics labs from universities across the world, as well as in conjunction with a certain search engine’s fibre teams. The last 3 months has seen the successful testing and deployment of this technology locally, and our commercialisation of the product on a mass scale has been completed

Very wild claim, without any mention as to what this magical "technology" is...

Phase 1 (upgrade copper infrastructure to 21st century technology)

You're upgrading Telkom's copper, or laying your own, copper?!?!?? :confused:

Phase 2 (full suburb/community/area FTTH deployment)

Ok... When, where?

Realistic project timelines range from 6 weeks to 3 months after critical mass is achieved to first customers going live, depending on the build process and municipalities involved.

For copper, fiber, or the magical "extremetth" which you can't really talk about?

Not only is the announcement as confusing as can be, but essentially it says nothing except go and market / sell CW to as many in the area as possible. Whether that is DSL, FTTH, or "extremetth"... The email really, basically say nothing.

Hope the next would be better worded and much clearer on what exactly it is that CW wants to achieve.

EDIT: for 50+ guaranteed signups in a geographically dense area, I would also go and dig up the streets without thinking twice.

Anybody in the Bedfordview area? I don't think 50 sign-ups will be difficult to get in the area. But there is a lot of competition.

Personally I can't wait to hear the other announcements... just wish they would come out quicker...

Well, I just read the email and I think it's pretty cool.

Pretty innovative - dunno what some people are moaning about.

Given the offer, I'd be quite happy to drop flyers in letterboxes within a 5 km radius of my home - can't hurt can it - I don't even have to talk to anyone.

Nice one CW :D

Go with the competition then, and leave CW fibre to those who don't have the luxury of competition.

Innovative? Cybersmart already does this.

Does what? LOL I'm still trying to figure out what precisely it is that CW wants to do (differently) :whistle:

The basic model remains the same, if you want fiber, go get the subscribers and only then will we consider talking to you...

I despise that concept of marketing.

Give me the product, or don't. But don't lead me by the nose.

Same reason I can't stand telemarketing.
