It's understandable that we are not getting any official communication from CW for now. They are probably trying to gather and digest all the facts first. But I do expect an official announcement and what has happened by cob.

Nobody is asking for a full root cause analysis, but the fact of the matter is login info has been compromised.

A simple line from CW regarding the imminent password resets that will need to now happen would suffice, i.e. whether they intend to batch reset or whether we should in the meantime be requesting manual resets via support. The rest of the "how's" and "why's" can wait.

What I want to know is why? What does someone gain from this and why do they keep doing this?

Who has such a grudge against an ISP of all things?

For ****s and giggles. To prove a point. Or some revenge due to a slight in the past. Jealousy.

So many possibilities. All of them garbage.

Are you a CW customer?

Just thought I'd respond here, I've only ever signed up for a trial with CW. No idea why I received the PM.

I really hope CW gets some investigators on the problem and nails the ****er.

When I told them about the breach this morning, it seemed to be the first they've heard of it (as expected, I guess). The support person on the other side asked if if it was not the old breach 3 months ago.

I was on the previous list... can anyone pm me the latest list please?

I don't know if CW specifically followed my instruction to NOT email my password or if they've changed their policy?

Either way I'm glad it got SMS'd to me instead.

Understanding what info has been compromised is important here. Resetting a password for an ISP account only remedies one issue, not the issue as a whole.

Badum tss

ok, so if your ID leaked, what's your next steps? cause you can still do those steps now.

the list does not need to be shared as you don't need to see other people's names and details. how can you be considered trustworthy?

How do we get onto Live Chat on the website?

When I click on "live chat and extra info" it only gives me the option to open a ticket (which I've done). Can't find the option to live chat to a CW rep.

EDIT: Sorry, Ghostery was blocking the plug in, got it working now.

Slightly OT to the current discussions. Can we perhaps put some money together and pay for CW to get a proper website? Not sure who designed it this time round, but it looks like weekend part-time job. I love CW, I really do but this just gets on my nerves.

We're already putting money together for them, monthly. ;)

I'm not arguing that the immediate action is to change the password that has been leaked, but it doesn't stop there.

Knowing what other information has been leaked gives you an understanding of your exposure. ID number on its own is nothing, add other details, like full name, banking and contact details, and the exposure increases significantly. While my credentials may be unique for critical services, it might not be for someone else; some people reuse passwords for multiple services and with additional info, like the user's bank, leaked, the attack vector is increased. YOU may be tech savvy, but the next Joe may not be. Identity theft is a 8itch to resolve.

Regarding trust/integrity:
We're on an online forum, can anyone be trusted? No.
I completely respect and agree on the approach that one of the forumites used to assist me in my request, but I was still not willing to divulge/expose my details to fulfil my request. Just like you may be wary of me, I am wary of you.

don't disagree with anything you say. but I honestly believe the list should not be shared or posted anywhere.
