Well I have 6 months of service with Backblaze, so I'll have plenty of time to test the service out. Still, the slow upload is pretty infuriating. Even uploading around 20GB an hour would have been slow going, so getting a fraction of that sucks bad.

If backblaze doesn't work out, try amazon. They offer 3 months free. That saturates my full line any time of the day.

Their unlimited storage for $60 a year is appealing, but I'm very concerned by this talk that it has zero security and Amazon staff can browse your files.

I can only advise that you go with amazon if you encrypt. In term's of media and plex use, I doubt backblaze can beat it's functionality. One of it's uses. Some people have 200+ TB backups with amazon already.

As for sources for amazon security, search /r/DataHoarder.

Is anyone else having issues with Twitch? Even on a 100Mbps connection I get buffering on source quality.

And check this crazy trace route: :wtf:

Thanks. I'll check it out. $5pm is also $60 a year, so Amazon costs exactly the same. If I can get a convenient encryption method going, maybe that's the way to go rather.

<snip snip>

Wtf is going on with Twitch. I don't see how CW can help when US servers are giving issues. I can stream fine when the option for 720p 30fps is available. 60 fps buffers two or three times a minute.

Mine is smooth, you watching the Dreamhack stream too?

Well, I'm joining you guys beginning next month. Already got good service with all my questions on transferring, all questions answered within 5 minutes.

Have you got your application in?

All signed and stuff uploaded and got the login details. Only worried about the line migration, Afrihost puts it in the pool on 1st March, will CW instantly take it up I wonder. :)

Wait, what. You already have an active fibre connection with Afrihost?

This is an ADSL performance feedback thread...
My dsl line is with Afrihost as a bundle currently, swapping over to CW bundle instead.

Or what application do you mean? If it's in regards to fiber roll-out, frogfoot is rolling out in my area, so hopefully I have a fiber line end of year/beginning next one.

Ah, sorry. Thought you were commenting on the previous fibre discussion. There isn't a separate thread for CW fibre customers, so it's everyone in here.

It's unlikely you'll have migration issues. Afrihost were always great with that back in the day with me. Telkom on the other hand...

Haha! Hey man ,nice seeing you here.
Just jump ship now . They current currently running a R1 promo, so you will pay nothing this month.
Just next month which is pretty much the same situation you're in anyway

EDIT : nvm seems like you already did.

Amazon Web Services places quite a high value on customer privacy and security. Their support staff don't have access to your data, other than any public facing stuff that anyone on the Internet would have access to provided you have set it up that way.

I just started a 3 month trial with Amazon's unlimited storage plan and early impressions are overwhelmingly negative. It won't upload faster than 2.2Mbps in my browser and around 8Mbps from a sync folder on my PC. That's significantly slower than even Backblaze. I did a speed test to make sure the network is okay and I got 94Mbps download and 46Mbps upload rates.

Also a deal breaker - Amazon wouldn't upload a file larger than 4GB. The service is worse than useless to me. Cancelled already.

Edit: Considering OpenDrive next. $99 a year for unlimited backups, online storage, speed, file size etc.

I would seriously consider testing with another ISP first just to rule that out.
