Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

tons of packet loss too but notice the first couple hops that I keep being told is Telkom from CW are normal when using this Afrihost .......

On my phone, is this more readable:

That's fiber and I am assuming that's due to trenching/install etc. and we don't know the distance/type of ground that has to be covered.
EDIT: Wait, that's the R5.5k.
Something strange with that quote, go ask CW if they're sure.

EDIT2: And as Sinbad said, no clue, I don't keep track of business accounts, it just seems strange if it were OpenServe fiber. Not sure how the other fiber providers offerings go.

DFA is installing outside the building and adding a "box" in the building.

Oh please, how much do you download on your home account?

No ways will we pay that. ADSL works fine for us at a fraction of the cost. But there is fibre so I thought I'd ask.

Go with the home one then, the speed and volume will be fine, but the difference is that you can't hold them accountable for losses due to service outage

Like ADSL.

Maybe I chose the wrong option on their website. I went to CW@WORK, REGISTER FOR FREE QUOTE, and that's what I ended up with.

Perhaps there should be more guidance during that process.

We're not running mission critical servers at our office, it's just for general internet access. The odd downtime isn't the end of the world as we have 3G as a backup.

Would they install a "home" product at "work"?

If there's fibre there, yes.

SLA means everything to a business that is internet driven and that's what you ultimately pay for.

Something is screwy on CW's end on my account. Getting 20% line speed and my ping is on average 70ms worse than it should be and what has been the norm.

First issue in a while...will see how long support will take to resolve this.

no man, this packet loss and speed thing is crazy, even worse this morning
