Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

I'm getting the 10MB home uncapped account at the beginning of next month.

Can anyone let me know their experiences on the home uncapped line and how the Fair Usage Policy is?

p.s I won't be doing much torrenting so that's not a concern :)

You won't have any problems.

Reckon you've got local issues:

there's others getting the same thing and I switch to AH or mweb and the issue is not present ..... I'm thinking DINX or something is playing up because anything IS is broken AF and support is not being anything like support.

is that fibre?

PE and CPT looks pretty unaffected as usual :( Really wish this would get looked at and sorted because it's leaving a sour taste now.

I have CW Support escalating to get the New Germany Exchange BNG11 in KZN because it is something that they cant monitor. Can someone else from KZN also get onto support and run tests for them? My issue is that sometimes I get full line speed and then other times it crawls to a grounding halt. At one point it appeared to be shaping because Ubuntu was maxing out the line, cancelled the download and started again and the line speed dropped to about 75kb/s from 380kb/s.

*edit*

I suspect and International link somewhere has gone faulty because some speed tests to USA servers are giving me bad results while other servers are giving me full line speed. Maybe SA traffic has been downgraded to junk as well? :p

Easiest way to rule out shaping would be to test with another ISP's account, such as the free 1GB accounts.

My line rental is with CW and if memory serves me correctly I cannot use those free 1GB accounts if my rental is through the ISP?

*edit*

Support did not say anything about SEACOM so I am assuming that CW has fallen back to the Telkom line?

Just sent my tests in to support. They're escalating, truth be told I've been having intermittent issues with CW for the past week, its just last night and today it's become unusable, it reeks of account throttling though because I'm on a 20mbps line and I'm getting about 4mbps consistently, you're on 4mbps and getting under 1mbps, very odd.

I'm in Cape Town and been having issues since Sunday last night was really bad haven't had a chance to test today
speedtest:
0.57 download, 0,25 upload and 151 ping that was at 22.14 last night
Crystal web premium account 4meg line
Streaming was a nightmare

Thank you. I am also on the uncapped, premium package so there should be no throttling or shaping of any sorts. CW Support even confirms that I am not being shaped but something is clearly wrong somewhere. I even went so far as to kick every device off my network so only my PC is connected and I still cannot come close to my line speed. Glasswire is showing no network activity on my PC except for when the automated testmy.net test are being run and those are not painting a pretty picture. Support did say that it could take up to 48 hours to get a response which means no D3 when I am meant to be on holiday while sick as a dog... *sigh*

You're free to use any ISP. Sign up with one and try their free 1GB account to rule out your line.

That's unlucky, I have a 100gb Afrihost account as back up and it's working 100% fine, will stay on that until CW resolve the issue

Have also done support stuff from KZN yesterday, maybe they'll shine up and see it's an actual problem

I will try changing ISP's soon but I just wanted to leave a screenshot of my testmy.net results. Besides the two at the bottom of the list all test were done automatically and the ones with a lightning bolt next to the ZA means it was the multi-threaded test. The more recent one with just a single flag is to the server in Colorado Springs. To me this says there is a problem and hopefully CW will investigate quickly.
