Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

My genuine advice to you is to cancel and move to another ISP.

I begrudgingly submitted my cancellation last Monday. I say begrudgingly because after 2.5 years of stellar service from CW I was not keen to move to a place where the grass may not be greener. The facts remain what they are though: When my CW account plays up and I switch to a pre-paid data account with another ISP I have no issues (as I've shown in multiple posts here). This places the blame squarely on the ISP portion and not my line/exchange.

Unfortunately I still don't have the promised "effective date" that I need my new ISP to take my line/data over from. Despite paying month-to-month via EFT it sat in a "Billing approval" status for 4 days until I followed up and asked them what the issue was. I suppose this is further proof of the declining service levels that forced me to cancel.

Well from my side things were pretty much A-OK the whole weekend with evening gaming. Ping was a stable 160-180 to EU. Very happy. Of course the test is really in the week. So will see if it acts up tonight.

Just me or youtube not working currently? I can load the page but videos not loading when trying to play, netflix works with no issues.

IMO It's a YT/Chrome issue - have it both at home and at work lately. I just try and click on the "Retry" arrow in the middle, and then sometimes the Play button becomes available, or if it doesn't, refresh the page.

Do you have uBlock Origin installed? Be sure to update the lists, one of them had an error and blocked YouTube videos.

I have constant issue with facebook videos. almost every video I try and watch buffers. eventually I give up and try another. this is daytime and at night and been happening for a good while now

Ping went to hell again since a few hours ago. Switched to VoX and perfect.

Ai.

What backbone does Vox run on? Is it IS? I am looking to break away from CW due to needing a second account for gaming. The Vox fatpipe 200gb looks just right for me.

Getting 400 MS in Overwatch. Pinging sites and speedtest is fine though :/

And EU pings go to hell again! Yea well done CW. Great product! /s

Speedtest to same server. Look at that disgusting ping. Pathetic CW.

CW 150GB Capped Xtreme account

VoX 10mb uncapped account

London server on my 2.4ghz wifi. Weird that adsl would give such a differing result. I wonder if there is an issue between your exchange and the CW pop that doesn't exist with the vox pop?

Maybe run winmtr on both connections to an eu server and post both results?

Ingame ping to euwest server on a 4mb premium uncapped account was 420 ms 30 minutes ago.
I'm in Cape Town, this has been happening regularly.

Yup, I've had the same issue. Also in CT. IN fact, it started spiking up about 15 minutes ago again tonight. Should be getting fibre in our area soon, and not sure if I'll go with CW unless they fix this ****.

what are you experiencing...

I get on the speed test, beat to local AlwaysOn or to a london server/location what my line speed is up and down,- 1/2 Mbps maybe.

When downloading torrents, I get between 500 Kbps -> 2Mbps,
This is on a 40Mbps line.
Youtube clips buffer, be that directly in Youtube or embedded in a Facebook posting.

So wanted to do the FTTH switch and have my mind blown away, instead I've been playing test this test that game with CW support, trying to figure out whats wrong.

G

This is fibre btw.

Yup. Problem is with CW and OpenServe. Wish this ISP can just acknowledge the damn problem.

Just did some tests with support.

To the local always On server I get 4ms ping with VoX. With CW I get 105ms+ ping.

Lovely.

They will talk to support level 2 tomorrow. This stinks if a router or node that is struggling with throughput during peak time traffic. Also surprised that monitoring has not picked these things up yet.
