Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

So let me get this right:

- Crystal Web just changed "free time" from 18 - 06 to 00 - 06 ??

- In addition you will now be de-prioritized if you use more than 200Gb?

Any recommendations for other capped ISP's for heavy users? My family does about 600Gb per month.

Or alternatively a 10 MB/s uncapped thats ok with my use.

Ok just spoke to Crystal Web.

For existing users free time is still 00h00 to 18h00. For new users 00h00 to 08h00

The threshold is not a specific amount and they will send out an email notification if you are affected.

As mentioned we use about 600gb a month and so far I have not received one. I'm on the 250Gb package.

Dear Crystal Web,

When you spam your clients, can you at least drop the technobabble and marketing nonsense and just get to the point? I don't want to have to read through 4 paragraphs of nonsense before you begin to explain what you're trying to tell me.

Thanks in advance,
A customer who's getting less and less happy by the day.

Hmm, ping since this morning has been really kark. Problem is popping up on the CT links -

CW speeds been up and down whole day. Switch to my 1 gig AH account and wham, speeds back to normal. Going to leave them a message and let them know.

On CW: 0.8 down, 0.8 up
On AH: 8 down, 0.8 up

First time in ages that I've had an issue, and severely disappointed to see they no longer have after hours support.

I think the current support hours have been around close to two years, probably more, zolly.

Yeesh. Well, shows you the last time I actually needed it. I see most of the other ISPs are the same story. Don't they know the Internet never sleeps?

Yeah, initially they had much longer support hours, think maybe 24/7, but at some stage announced that it was not worth it.

I can recall DJ helping me with a couple of issues 03:00 in the morning. Nowadays I don't even bother anymore. Like you say, service is up and down. I've seen mostly good speeds lately, but at times it is bad and my latency is so bad that I had to give up gaming. CW blaming Telkom and Telkom can't find any problems according to them. ICASA complaint went nowhere.

Yeah. Also been having less the consistent speeds lately.

We stuck waiting for the fibre guys to finish linking up the flats in our complex, but there was a wiring issue and they haven't bothered to arrange a meeting yet to sort it out. So annoying walking past the box in our complex but no way to link up to it!

Terrible speeds today with Netflix streaming at 240p and then buffering constantly. Have tried restarting router and leaving it off etc etc but it's not helping.

Same with other streaming services as well.

Does anyone know what backbone CW is using now since they switched to EvoNet?

It is obviously not on IS anymore because the the IS news server is not working.

Assuming they borked the scheduled maintenance.

It went down just after 01:00, as scheduled, and was marked as completed at 01:30, also as schedule - except my network hasn't come back since.

Really good job, guys.

Downloads roaring along at 60-80kb/s on a 10mb uncapped premium line. Something is definitely broken somewhere.

Ditto. Should have come here first before messing around with my home setup.
