Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

This has been pretty crappy no answer on there phones my premium business uncapped 20mbps which I used on 3 lines apparently has no more concurrent connections. I have cancelled but not getting any notifications. Why did they go ****up a good thing...

I have confirmed with support that I am cancelling. I also have yet to receive a cancellation email. If they make a fuss at the end of the month I'll post their support logs back to them.

Evonet is not CrystalWeb. Evonet might have been born out of CW, but they are two separate entities, Kaplan is not part of Evonet at all.

Sure, legally.

Are you sure?

I also find it very strange that the entire /18 range, owned by Evonet, is assigned to Crystal Web... I thought Evonet does open-access stuff themselves. From the looks of things as of right now, Evonet appears to be a shell company to hold CW's IP range/infrastructure... and not much more.

Hell, they even occupy the same address...

Also it looks like they're not doing Vodacom and MTN cellular anymore... wonder what happened there. Such a pity.

Just confirming what others are seeing with crazy spikes in latency. Pings to 8.8.8.8 was around 13-14ms. Now steadily over 100ms
Maybe they want people to leave? Its just getting worse and worse

No ping below 100 today and that's just local. Wtf CW, pull your damn finger out your arse

Mweb -

Ping: 52ms
Download: 5.51Mbps
Upload: 0.72Mbps

CW -

Ping: 116ms
Download: 4.04Mbps
Upload: 0.79Mbps

Please don't tell me to page back, because I am too lazy for that. I have been on holiday for a couple of weeks, followed by cable theft for another. Do we have a news server?

I'm going on leave tomorrow. When I'm back, if things aren't running smoothly, I'm ditching them.

I am staying with CW.. Granted things arent so lekker with my download speeds at times, but i have not had any streaming issues which are my main usage. Im also on the free time package, and based on my usage and a family of 4, i cant see a similar package elsewhere. I had a brief look at Telkoms Uncapped package, but at R999 for a 20meg line, its about R150 more than CW.

Its just so easy with free time, and not having to constantly monitor my data usage. I also have my Afrihost account, so im all good.

The disappointing thing for me, is that MyBB and CW management need to bury what ever differences they have, so that we can either have Shaun back on here, or somebody to give us updates as to what is going on.

I take it you don't do any online gaming? I also live in Cape Town and have tested their new accounts. Data is routed via JHB and then back to us. Adds about 30-50 ms for local gaming and 50 ms or higher for international gaming.

Have you guys had any problems with bad latency the last 2/3 weeks, especially in Cape Town?

I don't monitor my stuff closely, especially in the evenings, but before the move my pings were constantly between 250 - 5000ms.

After the move it averages at about 50ms, with IS about 10 ms faster locally and about 50ms faster international, compared to the new network.

Currently my ping is 93ms for local, so yeah, a bad drop off.

Well I'm not happy with CW speeds atm, I'm looking for something more uncapped 40meg with data inclusive. I almost pay about 1.1k a month and I start to upgrade my package every month to 350gb as I'm running out al,out every month.

Was thinking of telkoms uncapped at R1399, but not familiar with their speeds mostly for streaming and at what stage they start throttling you.

Anyone on Telkom or experience with them or any other isp with at least 500gb without any throttling

Did anyone else just get an email with their new client portal login details in it. Both username and password.

The password was the one I entered when I logged onto the site a while back and now they send it to me again?

Almost looks like the official move to the new setup. I assume that it is a generic message for people that are only now receiving their new login details. I assume that you won't be able to login to the IS account from the 1st.

Is traffic to CT still being routed via JHB?

Did a speed test to CapeTown and my pings are all just over 50ms. Doing a JHB test is 40ms. What the hell?

Thought this routing issue was solved?

Going to test in games just now.

Useless. Can't wait to leave these people. 2 months till CISP fibre.
