Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Hey what ain't broken should not be fixed. But the anomalies in this mess are quite funny in their variety. It depends on what you have, an ADSL or a fibre connection.

So just for clarity... am i on a ghost ISP XD? are there no crystal/evo people left? from the sounds of things it seems like this company doesnt exist anymore except for a trail of pissed off customers and upcoming lawsuits. To think yesterday I had no idea any of this was even happening

Basically, yes. Crystal Web, the company, is now just one person. EvoNet bought all the clients, took all the staff, got rights to the branding, and trades under the Crystal Web brand for their consumer-facing business. Your line shouldn't be working, and it looks like Openserve missed that one. Moving it may turn out to be a pain in the ass.

R300 approx , sounds like my 4mb uncapped adsl.

Maybe you're the same as ICEMAN, maybe your line is in limbo!

Alternatively, you stick it out and hope they never find your line. The problem is one when it goes faulty, you will have a real problem. Imagine free line fo Evah and Evah !

Would be nice, but i aint risking that **** lol

Did you do this, or did Afrihost do this? I'm still waiting on Afrihost to get back to me with regards to the migration of my line.

I did most of the pressing myself with OpenServe via Twitter. Basically just told to help me out on this. It wasnt a quick thing though, as i initially asked them for assistance on the 24th October.

my adsl line i get thru telkom. crystal/evo is just the isp. will i still have massive headaches?

By this, you mean your fixed line and your ADSL line is on your telephone account and paid for direct to Telkom? If yes, no you should not be affected by all these issues of lines moving into the holding pool etc.
It is just your ISP services that may become an issue later on.

awesome thank god. makes dropping those fools at crystal/evo a lot easier :D. now if only loadshedding and the general death of south africa as a viable country could not be a thing that would be great

How long have you been waiting?

Ah, so you're with Telkom for DSL. Good, I had thought you also had your DSL rental paid through Crystal Web.

Not that long. They phoned me last Friday saying they were submitting a list of lines (not sure if only CW lines, but they acknowledged I was in the pool of CW screwups) to OpenServe and wanted to know if I wanted to be on the list. I said yes and signed up while they were on the other end of the phone.

Since then I've only received an automated email from Afrihost on Sunday at 2am saying there is a pending order on my line and I need to let them know when the ADSL line is active so they can take control of the line. I responded to the mail highlighting that I'm a CW refugee, my line is active, syncing, authenitcating and overall working, even though no one is charging me for it at the moment. Haven't received any feedback yet, but I'm a relatively patient person. Just don't want to wait too long with everyone thinking someone else is busy doing something about it, while no one is actually doing anything.
