Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

I don't like quoting emails but this just left me exasperated.

Hi Steven,

Crystal Web acknowledges your request for a temporary solution.

We thank you for your patience and ongoing support.

It was a nice way of telling me I will have to wait though.

I will also nitpick a promise made 2 days ago, because I would have expected that being one of the gamers that is fairly vocal about it, and my willingness to trial the solution, I would have been up for consideration.

As previously posted, we have a contingency which we will implement tomorrow if latencies don't get better. You will be sorted. Speeds are starting to resolve themselves.

But we will ensure that you have a decent connection if things aren't resolved by tomorrow.

Yet here I am, on an Axxess free 1GB account running at half the latency of CW. I am chilled, because I still have the luxury of doing this so I can at least game online. But I am also posting about it, because we are quite a few promises down the line now. I know you guys have the best intentions and it's been a massive ball ache to try get things sorted, but I really would have been happy to trial out the solution.

Anyways, let's see how it pans out.

Something is definitely up... I mean down... :(

This appears to be line related. Please use the support channels and let us investigate for you. Best bet is to go to the site and start a chat with an agent who can investigate for you.

^ will have to agree with using other ISP temp accounts.

I just had to purchase some Webafrica data to stream Twitch, as other ISP's accounts couldn't.

Damn, I might have to unpause my Afrihost account till month end. Any update on the temp fix? Not that I applied, but if I still can instead of forking out R200 extra that would be nice.

I agree. Live Chat is offline, will try again tomorrow. Doesn't seem like the problem is going to go away overnight, been like this for almost 2 weeks.

The same can be said for Hulu.
But I find that Hulu almost always plays well regardless.
I hardly ever notice it drop below 480p quality.

Even when I was with Telkom and they were performing horribly, Hulu still worked.
My Hulu seems to be locked on HD and if the line slows down then it buffers. There used to be a speed setting on Hulu+, but I can't find it now. I think they removed it.

157ms to google.com. 575ms to play.com. amazon.co.uk timed out. 42ms to aliexpress.com - that's better than most local sites. 24ms to mybroadband.co.za. 21ms to cybersmart.co.za.

bag of mixed nuts. browsing slow. downloads fast http/s.

I'm happy

No, they definitely haven't.
You can change it in Hulu settings or click the cog to change settings like Youtube.

I was referring to Hulu plus. On the Hulu website I don't see "settings". If I play a video on the website and set the speed using the cog, I wonder if that will set the speed for all shows on my Roku?

The break is when I added other servers to the smokeping config file. Took a little while though.

But all is good now. Now I have multiple sites/servers I can use to monitor smokeping with.

A couple of local and overseas sites, such as :

CW I found your 60 minute turbo charge button. After my comments last night of some services being slow, 5 minutes after that I had super fast internet the whole evening through. :)

My line dropped a couple of times last night, at 11PM and a bit. PPPoE connection failed.

Anybody experience anything similar?

Yep, had that a few times now. The other night it was really bad, it disconnected twice and did not want to come back online. Eventually it connected again.
