Crystal Web slashes ADSL prices

I'm guilty of getting it wrong as well, I'll probably forget future as well though.

Very ironic considering your signature...

It paid for my adsl back then and recently for my mobile data. It's actually outdated now since you will actually get 400GB for the same price since you get double data as a standard and then double data with afrihost plus+ too.

Yeah don't use them for dsl data anymore so will remove it. I'm actually a Cybersmart user and it's not bad. I do not have a issue with Crystal Web's network as IS is one of the most stable backbones one can get and one of the best to be honest.

Crystal Web 150GB for R249 and Afrihost 200GB for R199 Afrihost wins.

The amount of modems I crushed when I still used afrisheits business account.

I don't mind paying a premium for a solid connection. Been with CW for the past 4-5 months and I have had 0 issues. Wait, my connection has been slow twice for a few minutes.

Don't try and justify yourself to a Crystalweb fanboi. They are worst than EFF supporters..... :erm:

That said they have a decent deal here since most of the traffic of the capped account won't even count due to the free data time.

Compares well with Afrihost and Cybersmart accounts. Afrihost has been up and down lately.

IS has a decent network so they have that good backbone. Cybersmart hasn't skipped a beat for me too.

Afrihost and Cybersmart aren't anywhere close to Crystal Web. Maybe get a CW account and see for yourself why there are so many 'fanboys'. You won't find faster performance, lower latency, better customer support and more impressive uptime anywhere else.

Openweb was like this in the beginning...

Aah Crystalweb, what to make of them...

On the one hand the fact alone that someone like HapticSimian has such a raging hardon for CW, makes me want to steer well clear.

And on the other hand you have this MyBB tabloid seemingly at odds with them, which makes me want to sign up with them today.

I think I can live with the fact that DJ... is a bit of a jerk.

Just as heads up on this...

You do know that it wasn't just CW affected by this, they just chose to actually stand up and be open about what happened.

Openweb was like this in the beginning...

Openweb resold accounts as is. CW don't. Ask their live chat to explain how different they are.

Not only has Openweb never had CW's network performance, but if CW goes down the drain you can give notice before the 19th of any month and never be billed again by them.

At pretty much no risk you can verify for yourself if CW is as good as so many claim it is.

At the end of the day what will make a difference to you is having a great internet connection.

Sure, DJ sometimes made me wonder if he was having a bad day. It's been a very long time since I thought that though (before CW existed), and I gave him a pass anyway because by and large his posts were informative and often he was often just calling a spade a spade.

Since he was banned this place has been so much worse off. He provided so much insight into how ISPs work.

Wtf? The leak was from an upstream provider for CW, and CW ditched them after the leak and disclosed everything to their customers. What more do you want from them?

I'm relaying my service experience just like you along with some news/forum articles that relate to the experience I received.
Doesn't mean I'm any less entitled to post it, and you're more than welcome to share your opinion as well. Everyone has one.

You ditched CW because of a news article that you read.

Cool.

Many of us read the same article, dug a little deeper, concluded that the implied risk was minimal, and continue to enjoy the best quality Internet in South Africa.

I believe that you've short changed yourself, but, as you say, everyone has an opinion. Me, I love the fact that my household no longer moan about how slow the internet is anymore.

I didn't say you shouldn't post anything. It was just a reply. That's how a forum works.

What service experience does no degraded service facilitate? Nothing changed at CW. The leak wasn't even new by the time it came to light.

Never said I ditched them for a news article spin doctor. My details were exposed by their service. The news articles simply supported my customer experience. I'm not going to share the emails I had with them, the article is true to the feedback I received.

I can only be short changed if I felt that my current ISP was worse. I could sit here typing how wonderful my ISP is and tell you how "many" think the same, which I can't as I don't speak for them.

I'm not happy using an service provider that in my customer experience doesn't do due diligence on it's security or it's providers and a whole host of other things that are amateurish mistakes. Not only did it happen once, but twice.

You're very naive about the state of security in the SA IT industry.
Once the names of the providers with the breach come out you'll schit yourself.
