They're different positions we're talking about, but Goosen absolutely deserved his post in the Boks before his injury. I like that Meyer still has confidence in him. Steyn hasn't impressed me much this season, at least not in the way that he did in the past...

These end of year tours seem to be a reward for some players and the building blocks for the next season. But it doesn't ever seem to be good management - except when Mallet took his team for that 18th game.

He has been one of the best players in the Top 14.

I do not agree with screuder's pick, he does not have a great kicking game and he also does not have massive attacking capability. Vermaak, Pretorius or Kockett would have been better picks imo.

Happy to see Steph-du toit there, as well as looking forward to what Jaques can bring to the centre position.

I really hope that HM rests Morne Steyn and plays Lambie and Goosen. Also Give Serfontein a go and rest Jean (he might be the most over played player in world rugby).

We are seriously thin on tighthead props at the moment and I fear for the day that Jannie gets sidelined for 6 months....

That was his only decent game for the whole year and playing with a good pack. Kolisi had 1 off day the whole season, does not mean he is better them him. Burger is only coming back into the game now since his injury issues.

What doesn't make sense? There are about 10 players that are going on a tour that just won't feature for the world cup. In that sense they are taking up space that could be better used on other talent, or in some cases, on some players with talent.

Gio Aplon is useless as a Bok. Sure, he is quick but his lack of size actually makes him a liability. You cannot afford to have one dimensional (speed) players in the modern game.

JP - we haven't seen him all season. At least Fourie Du Preez turned up for the home games against Aregentina, NZ and Oz. This goes for Jaque Fourie too.

Jean De Villiers has lost it - and watching a replay of the Currie Cup he is just a nasty player too.

Johan Goosen - another injury just waiting to happen.

Schreuder? Before McLeod? Before Vermaak?

Guthro - The only old prop worth considering is Os. And Os, Guthro aint.

The hookers - the short of this is that there is such a large gap between Du Plessis and the rest. And in all facets of the game.

Kolisi wasn't coming back from that boo boo that he got in the first few minutes of the final. But when his replacement was Burger there was no choice. Burger was not going to last the match. It wasn't that Kolisi had a bad game - he was taken out, intimidated, lost his bottle. He is done for.

Coetzee doesn't know the meaning of fear. Loose forwards can't.

Burger coming back is rubbish. It's just going to be ugly.

We've had some wonderful entertainment over the years from a lot of our players but there comes a time when they need to pack it in. If teams were chosen on sentimentality I'd have Andre Joubert and Danie Gerber turning out every week. And that's not fair on them.
