Cyberpunk 2077

my money is on that, especially if its something weird like power but no POST,
you tried your MOBO outside the case, to eliminate that as the cause of the issue?
I haven't but the setup hasn't changed for 3 years and has been running just fine.
I live in a high humidity area right next to the beach.

I'm guessing the corrosion got it.
Won't be the first mainboard I lost like this.

That would be to play it, yes. I want to pre-load this monster. Should be either today/tomorrow that that process can start.
PC - 1PM on GOG or 6PM on Steam today.
Xbox - Available now
PS - Tomorrow, no time given.

I am looking forward to the game, but I am not going to play it from tee off. I always wait for games to mature, and I haven’t even touched Doom Eternal. However, I make it my mission to avoid hype as most of the hype is sponsored advertisement and pre-influenced.

It is no secret that a select market had early access to the game in one capacity or the other. Just the other day I posted a 16 hours playtime take on the game, but I was caught by this Forbes article a moment ago,

A Warning About ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Reviews

So far, code distribution seems a little scattered for this game: I obviously can’t speak for every outlet, and I feel confident that some people have probably had a bit more time with it. But I have yet to receive code, and I know that a lot of other people are likely in the same boat. So at that point, even if I get that code right now, as I type this article, it makes it functionally impossible to get a review out for release. Even a little more time—a week or so, maybe—would make the process of slamming through this game in time before either release or an embargo a few days before release a nightmare.

...

Everyone wants to get their reviews out as soon as possible, to hit embargo if that’s a possibility, or release if it’s not. And that means a lot of reviewers are likely powering through a massive experience in ways that few other gamers could ever hope to replicate, pulling multiple 12 hour sessions, mainlining story content and ignoring side stuff, or just sort of warping the experience in manner of ways. Yes, people are going to work hard and do their absolute best to evaluate this game in a reasonable way for you. But there are hurdles along that path.

...

The most obvious problem is that it just sort of makes your experience of the game worse: if you push past the point where you would have put the game down if it were up to you and play for like, 6 more hours, you’re gonna have a bad time. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the score goes down, because as a reviewer you know that part of that unpleasantness might be because you’re playing the game in an unnatural way, and so you forgive certain sins based on the idea that someone playing this at a more human pace might not experience things in the same way.

Continued

I am not going to post the article in full, but reading it it basically comes down to a review of speculative review scores because reviewers play games differently, rate games differently and use different scoring models, but to quote the article's conclusion,

I’m not saying scores will be higher, or lower, because these things can affect things in all sorts of ways. But if you’re reading a review in the days before or after release, it’s important to note that it was most definitely produced under very different circumstances than what a normal playthrough looks like.

it just comes to me that the Forbes review team feels left out because they haven't yet received their review copy. They aren't special.

What irks me, everyone is going on about this game like it is revolutionising gaming, and I warned many pages ago that the market will perceive this as the benchmark for cyberpunk themes. Cyberpunk in computer gaming dates back to the 80s.

Suddenly CDPR have invented 'streaming mode', huh??? Many games have a streaming mode today, and yes, it is now a function since DMCA became a thing on Twitch. The Cool skill, it is basically 'luck' renamed, RPG games have for years featured wearables for boosting skills amongst other things. Street cred is alignment!!! Just because you change the name of a thing doesn't make it unique.

I see one person who got to play the game early complained about cultural appropriation and then CDRP requested a take down on his content in terms with their current policy against early leaks.

I do understand how this guy feels about his identity, but is this really an issue in a fictional universe?

You know this one.

I am strait - chewy must be strait
I am white - chewy must be white

or else chewy and star wars is kak.

Sigh. I miss the days where a story was just a story and the characters in it made the story by being themselves as they are.

On this, to my regret, I watched ghostbusters 2016 and it was lank kak. Imho they should have gone with the big band era, made the whole thing black and white. Filled with woman being wholesome, fun, witty, strong etc. But instead they went all over the show without limits or any reasoning to see what sticks to the shitwall. It could have been great, but they had an agenda to **** out. So it failed. Hard.

edit
I've watched everything there is to watch always enjoying a good story.

Considering he has his preferred pronouns in his Twitter bio we can safely assume he's from the very far-Left camp where anything not meeting their impossible, every-changing standards is considered hateful.

My whole mindset going into this game that I'm not expecting it to revolutionize anything. Not gameplay, story, nor even visuals. What I am expecting is something polished down to the T. Something that is as engaging as the Witcher 3 was for me. If the Witcher 3 revolutionized anything, it was polish. Everything in The Witcher 3 just oozed love and attention to detail, CD Projekt Red didn't just set out to make a game. They didn't just drop you into a world, like Skyrim or Fallout. They dropped you into a place. So I suppose that's all I'm expecting from Cyberpunk 2077. To be dropped into a place.

You are right, it placed Polish game developers on the map

The Witcher 3 wasn't perfect, it was full of bugs at launch, and was so for a time, but to take Bethesda as an example for their older titles people looked past their faults because the story was triumphant at the end of the day until of course the day came that Bethesda stepped on the consumer.

It will be the same with Cyberpunk 2077, if there is one element done perfectly appealing to the masses then people will look past most of its faults.

I think it is clever of CDPR for only rolling out mulitplayer in 2022, because they will capitalise on the monetisation successes of GWENT, meaning that they will implement a DRM system for their online ecosystem which they themselves promote as anti-consumerism. If people complain then, they have already played the game for more than a year, making multi player an additional choice. I assume this is CDPR's plan for maximising the profitability of the IP.

Imagine people dictating writers, like Stephen King, on how he should write his stories.

I cannot hit the block button on these people fast enough. Honestly.

If he didn't immediately switch to pumping out graphic big-foot pr0n, I'd think less of him as an author.

Because if you want to fark with the creative process, you'd better be prepared for the fallout....

I guess they will all cry at lovecraft or even edgar allan poe.

I wonder how far CDPR will push the hardcore cyberpunk themes. Sex and prostitution is a major part of any cyberpunk themed title's lore. I know that there are regions which will be less explicit.

Seeing that someone is already complaining at the point of character creation, we are in for a slippery slide.

I am just in the opinion that people must separate themselves from fiction, and yes, a lot of the themes in fiction are true to real life themes and at times amplified for the establishment of lore.

Thought police is terrible, and I won't be surprised if this is a topic in regard to augmentations in Cyberpunk 2077, wetware and all that.
