Cyberpunk 2077

What's the problem?
Cyberpunk is set in a dystopian future and it all seems appropriate for the cyberbpunk universe, where you can modify your body and appearance to be anything.
In fact, whatever shitty changes fragile millenials wants to force onto the game, might add value and accuracy and to this game that is supposed to be set in a dystopian future. They should add some shitty pronouns to all the characters names as well. Maybe they can make it a game mechanic, where you can gain or lose rep if you guess a character's pronoun incorrectly.

I'd be upset if they forced sjw values into a medieval universe where it would be inappropriate for the setting.

Completely agree, in that you can modify your "parts" and become whatever you want. But we all (apart from the hermaphrodites) start as either male or female, right. So from the video you still select male or female template based on appearance, but CDR can't say it's male or female. That's a bit wonky I reckon.

This was not an independent decision, and feels forced from the outside at the last minute which is why I'm against it. Otherwise I would not have even noticed the lack of an explicit option.

I don't really have a such big problem with the message, my bigger issue is with political pressure to change an artist's work and vision, but if Mike Ponsdmith doesn't have an issue with it, I don't either.

This political pressure is forcing everyone to think the same and it silences dissenting voices. I can't recall, but it was a famous president like Winston Churchill that said something along the lines of, "In the future fascism will come under the guise of compassion".

All hail the resistance, all hail Dave Chappelle :whistling:
P.S Check out his special Stick & Stones if you haven't yet.

There should be a difference in gameplay as all dialogue in the game will be something generic when referencing your character instead of "he, she, him, her" sort of words. Maybe they did that though to to save on voice acting costs and now they realized that they can make it seem like they pandered to the 0.5% by making a few minor adjustments.

It's just interesting where the concerns of the world are. The Witcher 3 had lots of gore with heads decapitated and bodies dismembered throughout the game. There was nudity and sex and you even banged a chick whilst sitting on a stuffed unicorn. All that sort of stuff is somehow not the focus and is fine except for genders.

That seems like a very trivial and petty thing to be concerned about.

But yeah, having more options for character creation for an RPG is not a bad thing.

I still don't see the difference, I'm sorry. A person with a penis is a male and a person with a vagina is a female. Just because I feel like a butterfly, doesn't make me a butterfly - I am still a human being. Nothing will change that.

Yeah, this is all about different kinds of human beings. And the very first sentence of the link explains it very simply. Not sure what you're struggling with.

It is because CDPR is being forced due to journalist /LGBT+ community attacking them. It saddens me because companies are scared of those people instead of following what CDPR vision for THEIR game.

Mike Pondsmith wrote the book Cyberpunk way back when and had a vision for HIS game, but I feel CDPR was forced to do this just because of backlash of those people that probably do not even play the game and probably not even fans of their games. I want this game to succeed and give the praise what CDPR deserve, but I feel going down the route can upset majority of people and affect their sales which also saddens me, because I've been looking forward for this game since 2012.

My opinion what I have seen what happen in games like: AC:O DLC and more games the people that whine regarding genders, race etc are those exact same people complaining about Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. But people that are fans of CDPR want a product that was made of vision of CDPR and Mike, not what the minorities want in game or what we want in game.

But maybe we will hear something different tonight at 8pm with their new game-play.

What evidence is there that they are being forced or that Pondsmith is unhappy about it?

I guess I just find it a very odd thing to complain about. It just creates more options for character creation. That's a good thing for RPGs, and detracts nothing from the way you want to play it.

New 14 min deep dive video. They give a warning that some folks might consider some of it to be spoiler'ish, as it shows content from a mid-game quest. I didn't notice anything to be concerned about, but YMMV.

Looks really cool.

Apparently the world is smaller than Witcher 3's, but stacked with content a bit more.

For those who have CP2077 on pre-order at GOG, you can get a 40% discount code for Displate

Yeah, this is nonsense.
Why such outrage over something like that now?

I am 50 hours into a new playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition.
They do not use he,she,him,her

The characters when referencing you say "Inquisitor"
Why no fake outrage when that was released?

Silly argument
The gaming community likes getting outraged for outrage sake and I am personally getting sick of it.

Personally I hate that the map will be smaller than Witcher 3's. In open world games, especially ones with cars, the bigger the map the better. Cars are faster than horses so you need a much bigger playground.

Wish the rumours that the map will be 4x bigger than Witcher 3 were true :(

Oh well, I know the game (and map) will still be amazing and fun to explore.

Bare in mind that the play area is vertical as well, with massive buildings and multiple floors.

Yeah but I was mainly talking about cars/driving which looks amazing in Cyberpunk. The map still sounds pretty big though. Just a bit disappointed that it's smaller than Witcher 3.

Just give me the biggest map possible to explore and cruise around in and I'm happy :p

Even with this little bit of information, we can work out that The Witcher 3 is at least 3.7 times the size of the 36 km2 GTA San Andreas map. It’s 1.5 times bigger than the 81 km2 of GTA V, 3.3 times the 41 km2 of Red Dead Redemption. 3 times bigger than Far Cry 4’s 46 km2, three and a half times bigger than Skyrim’s modest 39 km2!

Put simply, we only have conservative estimates of the map size. Of course, with some areas still to be detailed, the estimate is only going to go one way; up!

More is always better, but i`m not too worried about the map size.

Sometimes.
A lot of Witcher 3's map has a load of nothing.
I've done 4 playthroughs and investigated every inch.

There is a lot of copy paste forests about. No treasure, no interesting sites, no quests, some even no monsters.
Skellige in particular has a load of nothing. All those islands? I've sailed to every single on and most of them have a few drowners and nothing else.

I would take a smaller map with more content over a massive map with a lot of padding.

So seeing they are going all inclusive with customisation, does that mean I can have my Luchador mask?

I agree, Witcher 3 had plenty of nothingness although at times that was also just an experience in its own right.

Cyberpunk looks big as well, but because it is mostly town and buildings I think it works better that it is smaller than say a nature, outdoors enviroment like Witcher.

Give me Cyberpunk nowwwwww...!!!

Not sure what exactly the issue is but the developer has mentioned the experience will be more immersive . . .

All Cyberpunk 2077 Cutscenes Will Be In First-Person, Including Sex Scenes

The fact that the action of Cyberpunk 2077 will be shown from a first-person perspective came as something of a surprise to a lot of fans, especially given that CD Projekt RED’s last title – The Witcher 3 – was a fully third-person adventure.

The first-person view point hasn’t gone down entirely well with everyone, unfortunately. A small number of (incredibly) vocal gamers have even gone so far as to claim they won’t be buying at all, with some claiming that they’ll only fork over their money for Cyberpunk 2077 if CDPR includes some kind of third-person update in the future, which is just… well, I’m sure you know what it is.

Regardless, I think the majority of us can get on board with what Cyberpunk 2077 is trying to do, which is essentially create the most immersive and atmospheric sci-fi gaming experience to date. If first-person helps achieve that, I have no intention of arguing. Hell, it worked well enough for Halo, Metroid Prime, and Half-Life.

Some of the earliest footage of the game in action did actually show certain cutscenes that allowed us to see our custom character from a third-person perspective which was kind of cool – especially given all the noise CDPR has been making about just how in-depth and diverse the character-creation tool in Cyberpunk 2077 is.

However, it looks like CDPR has now dropped that approach in favour of making players view every cutscene in the game from a first-person perspective. This comes after a curious Twitter user asked the official Cyberpunk 2077 what the deal with first-person was following a much-discussed German interview regarding the game which was translated by fans on the CD Projekt Red forum.

The official account’s answer to the fan was that “In Cyberpunk 2077, immersion is very important to us, so yes, cutscenes are fpp.” Not content with that, the persistent fan then asked the question that, to be fair, would have been on my mind too; “What about the sex scenes?”

“Same,” came the reply. There we have it then kids, Cyberpunk 2077 will have immersive first-person sex scenes. I guess people out there will have opinions on that. I honestly do not.

I think I actually prefer 3rd person in games. Though if combat has a lot of gun fights then 1st person makes sense otherwise you'll be fighting with the camera a lot of the time. Mass Effect did do guns in 3rd person OK though.

Someone will probably create a 3rd person mod on PC eventually. You can play Borderlands for instance in 3rd person with a mod.

3rd person has always been easier for me to get around. But then again most games that give the option try to design around both and it doesn't work out well for 1st person. Might be different this time with everything being designed around 1st person. Will wait and see what people say.

Weird thing is in gta v I never switched to 1st person for shootouts even though it's what I prefer in other games.
