Quick question...

When cancelling account and line with Cybersmart... do they transfer to Telkom again or must it be re-applied for by me ? It is something I just assumed would be done automatically by them back to Telkom, as this is how they transferred it to themselves originally.

Or... would it be advisable to just leave the line with Cybersmart ? Any downside to this ?

I would rather not be left with a Telkom ADSL headache come end of next month while it ping-pongs between the two for resolution.

Input as always most welcome.

But beware, if you do not manage the process yourself - it will take two or three months .

Suggest in future you leave your line with Telkom.

i'm having problems even with my website hosted by CS. cannot access my email or my website, but according to CS there's nothing wrong!

and Laurie no longer answer emails it seem.

WTF is wrong with CS, they used to be the best. :(

When you advise me to "manage the process myself" what exactly do you mean ? How would you recommend I do this ?

I have faxed-off everything to Cybersmart, but am still awaiting any confirmation from them.

Your input will be most appreciated.

I have had several similar issues with Cybersmart & WebAfrica;

Contact Telkom wholesale (Can't find the number - https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/wholesale-web/index.jsp) directly and request your line to be moved back to Telkom, also send an email to peakefe(AT)telkom.co.za and follow-up with all parties on a daily basis.

It is a pain, but it seems the longer the ISP's can hang onto the line - the longer they will.

I'm currently making use of http://www.hostingunlimited.co.za/hosting.html free service, without issues and internationally (more reliable than Hertzner, WebAfrica, Cybersmart, MWEB, Afrihost, etc) I'm making use of http://www.gridhost.co.za/web-hosting-cpanel as Host4Africa has let me down.

I suggest MWEB Uncapped ADSL. I have not yet tried them but a lot of associates use it and they seem to have no problems. If you have had any experience with the previously stated service provider, feel free to correct me.

Thanks for that... but the growing number of issues with Mweb uncapped just like the one's I am currently experiencing are serving as a warning to me to avoid.

I have already sent my OpenWeb application through anyway.

Mind you, I guess ANYTHING is better than Cybersmart at the moment.

By the looks of that deal, you deal directly with OW. Not bad. Just a pity they don't have a 1mb deal.

Edit: Never mind, it will be one month only. Response from UD- "The account will be valid for one month :)"

Indeed... I see that.. also "We need 5 more people for the deal to be on."... I have already received confirmation from Keoma at OpenWeb that the account is setup and active from the 1st of July. 1 hour after faxing them it is done. I am more than happy with the special R269 deal.

Cybersmart I re-faxed this morning, on both fax numbers, AND emailed+cc'd AND I am still waiting for confirmation of receipt of fax AND email. I am motivating myself to phone their help desk in another hour for this. I want to be done with them. I want confirmation from them that they will ride off into the sunset and I never have to deal with them again. Finish 'n klaaar.

EDIT: It seems as if the Ubunte Deal is only for a 1 month account... !
