Cybersmart slow as hell!

Hey guys I have a oneprice account with cybersmart. I'm not getting near 7kbs download speed. My browsing gets interrupted by "time outs" and "server not found" errors. Its really unusable internet. I have emailed them and I get a reply saying It is slow during peak times and that I should avoid using the internet from 6pm-11pm. WTF? so they are telling me now when to use my internet. Peak times are there for a reason cause that is the time when all people use the net. I am so pissed I'm just going to cancel my debit order with them and I wait for them to take me to court. they will so loose! :mad::mad:

EDIT: Don't even try telling me to ask them to change my username. oneprice=Not possible. Any other oneprice people getting such slow speeds?

what do you get on http://www.speedtest.net/ ?
i get 330 down and 100 up
on axxess speed test i get

Which means you can download(Max) at 8.199999999999999 KB/sec.
 
no! there must be something wrong with cavedog's line or something
I'm a oneprice 384k cybersmart user and there is nothing wrong with my bandwidth/download speed

WRONG! They are using their own backbone thus the cheap prices! Email them if you don't beleive me. Cybersmart and SOAL are both using the same backbone. Compare their prices to any other isp! Second my telkom account is max speed. Download @ about 40kbs but my cybersmart can't even get 7kbs. Now that I added that I don't even want to mention the latency! What a disater! The IP range is registered to cybersmart. They have registered as a ISp on their own and they don't actually resell bandwidth. Why do you think you can't use the news server!

:( I'm telling you something is wrong with my cybersmart account! Ive been a customer since August 2007 and Ive seen the speeds decrease every month!
 
cybersmart does not resell SAIX accounts. to my knowledge, the seperate tiers (ISP's selling DSL accounts which use their own bandwidth) are:
- SAIX (TelkomInternet)
- VerizonBusiness ZA (UUNET)
- IS (Internet Solutions)
- CyberSmart
Nashuamobile might also be one, I dont know if they resell or not.
Every other ISP is merely a reseller of these ISP's bandwidth, and yes, that includes MWEB (resellers of SAIX accounts)

:( I'm telling you something is wrong with my cybersmart account! Ive been a customer since August 2007 and Ive seen the speeds decrease every month!

i use news.cybersmart.co.za

and your last speed test is what i get as per my other post on this thread
330'ish down and 100'ish up like you get with the telkom account

there is something wrong with your cybersmart account then
what is your login username ( yes the question you dont want to hear :D)
 
its [email protected] I have asked them to rename it but then the nightrider and the capextender pakage that I have won't work anymore! :mad: I know cybersmart is really good but their oneprice realm(server) is really overloaded and laurie told me so too. He says the traffic is really high on that server. they have done upgrades but they can not keep up with the bandwidth needs thats why they launched the nightrider option so people could download less during the peak times!
 
Have you got yourself a brand new login name from Cybersmart in yet? Nothing wrong with my friend's line on this side...

You mean renaming to @dsl.cybersmart.co.za or @fast.cybersmart.co.za ?? Not possible cause I have the oneprice!
 
I have several friends on oneprice - and none of them have speed issues.
 
change it to @dsl.cybersmart if you are on @fast or @cybersmart. Mine was on @adsl, but is motoring again with @dsl :D
 
I'm finding it alot slower lately, then again I have just downgraded from 4mbps :(
