D-Link modem setup help

Hey.

I got a new D-link modem and i need help setting it up.
It just says connecting.
My old modem works fine so the line is perfect its just that the new one wont connect.
Can anybody run me through what the settings have to be on the page with the internet settings?
 
Encapsulation PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)
Multiplexing method LLC
Virtual circuit VPI - 8
VCI - 35

Also your username and password, should be all you need to get up and running.

Thank for that. I already have all of those settings in but still it just says connecting.

Any other tips or ideas?
 
Well the light on the far right gives a flash every couple of seconds. That's the light with a letter I on.

The other light with the arrow just flashes.
 
So I got working. Not sure how but it's on.

I have a 1mb line but speedtest shows my download speed as max 400.
Could it be the modem or would it be Telkom? The line was only installed Friday.
 
400? think you must post the speedtest.net results. It depends, if you are to far from the exchange you might not get 1Mb speeds.

Check in the modeme what your SNR and Attenuation Rates are.
