The stakes have never been so high

2014 is going to change everything in South Africa. If enough DA supporters register and vote, we’ll not only win another province, we will also lay the foundation for what could be a change in national government in 2019.

This weekend the IEC will open every voting station across South Africa for registration. On both Saturday and Sunday you can take your barcoded ID to any of these stations between 8am and 5pm and register to vote in next year’s elections.

Why should you register?

Never before has every single DA vote been so important to the future of our country. And the battle doesn’t start next year. It starts this weekend with registration.

All it takes for you to play your part is your ID and a few minutes of your time. If you’re unsure whether you’re registered in your area, simply SMS your ID number to 32810. If you need help in registering, you can call the DA hotline on
0861 22 55 32.

Next year we’ll call on you to vote to win. But first everyone must register to win.

Yours sincerely,

Helen Zille
Leader of the Democratic Alliance

“Even if I was on the fence this coming election, all this DA, Helen Zille spam would have convinced me to vote for anybody else #DAspam,” said Mohamed Fayaz Khan

Wow, people would change their vote because they got 3 smses? Change the quality of life and give more power to ANC for the next 4+ years because deleting 3 smses was just too unbearable... ****ing moron.

Yip got one on 5 Nov. Had such dodgy urls I thought it was a phishing attempt and deleted it.

Screw you DA.

Fscking liars. You never ever got my permission. You're no better than other politicians. Lying scum.

3 sms' in 1 day. wow, first world problems.

It is, when you're listed on the National Opt out list.

Unsolicited Communication. I'm not sure about you - but I have enough SPAM in my life.

Got the email spam. Not a great way to build trust.

The probably didn't take the decision to send it lightly. In the end it comes down to numbers and I guess they reckoned they would get more people to register by sending the spam than they would lose by people being annoyed by it. Makes sense, doesn't make it cool though.

So they are prepared to bend the rules when it suits them. Right, got it.

Political scum.

Just put the number on your phones blacklist?

i don't understand how people can get so angry about "Unsolicited Communication"

What are the penalties for sending out unsolicited spam? Who is the watchdog for this kind of thing in SA?

I'm guessing even if they do get a fine they wouldn't mind paying it.

When you get numerous calls on your cell then you will understand. Before the I subscribed to the opt out list - I use to get anywhere upto 5 phone calls a day. And my time is money. Especially when the person on the other end is illiterate.
