Think its perfectly fine that they block VPN's as they allow people to get around the limitations they put on this great cheap uncapped product. People always want to abuse everything in SA, hence why unlimited just doesnt come by that much these days here vs the USA etc
The one I'm using works 100%. Perhaps you should get a better VPN...So rain started blocking the use of VPN's on the mobile service. Whats next? Censoring our internet access?
VPN on bona fide mobile device (whatever that might mean)
mobile device
noun
a portable computing device such as a smartphone or tablet computer.
"whether you're on a mobile device or a desktop, good security practices are the best way to avoid these threats"
a portable computing device such as a smartphone or tablet computer.
There are many kinds of mobile devices, designed for different applications. This includes:
- Mobile computers
- Digital still cameras (DSC)
- Digital video cameras (DVC) or digital camcorders
- Feature phones
- Pagers
- Personal navigation devices (PND)
- Smart cards
Wikipedia? Just no atleast have some decency. While we are playing "quote the internet", this from wikipedia's Mobile device page:
(highlights are mine)
It's still a realistic scenario. So now you're not only the decider of "bona fide mobile use" but also the life choice police?30GB per day is 10 hours per day. Anybody watching that amount of telly seriously needs to reconsider their life choices
Edit: back on topic, I doubt this scenario could be classified as "bona fide mobile use"
Sure.. so I must pay R1700 a month.. and then get 1.2Mbps down on my vpn..............Think its perfectly fine that they block VPN's as they allow people to get around the limitations they put on this great cheap uncapped product. It’s mobile not fixed simple as that.
- The Fixed LTE router is mobile and easily transportable for use anywhere in the Rain Fixed LTE coverage area.
Fixed LTE...never mind that mobile is not a usage indicator. the stupid it hertz
people are quoting isp descriptions as the law.
how about this one.
It's VPN, not limited to fixed. Simple as that. It’s mobile not fixed simple as that.
.. its fixed lte.... capped too.. simple.. as that....It’s mobile not fixed simple as that.
You are talking rubbish. VPN is for privacy, both fixed and mobile. It's not to circumvent any restriction as there are no restrictions to circumvent. Usage is still being billed in the same way.If you want to cry then go get Vodacom or MTN prepaid data, they are giving a service at their terms and also to stop people abusing it. If you really need to vpn go to another network that supports it. Simple reason why we can’t have nice things in South Africa as everyone tries to screw the system because they cool.
