DataSIM: one voice contract and Data SIM Cards that share a Contract Data Bundle

I have been having some trouble lately with my dataSIM when using 3G/HSDPA (619 errors and disconnects), seems to work fine (very slowly) on GPRS though. It could be a vodacom system problem ?

Possible I suppose ... will switch to GPRS on the TyTN and see what happens

Care to give some more details/link?

Nope. I just got back to work yesterday, and one of the guys told me that new contracts/activations has been having a problem connecting to the internet since last Friday i think. Dunno if it has been sorted out.

Update: Just spoke to 155 call centre, and Iam3G is spot on ... all new activations from the 31st of December are having problems connecting, technicians working on the problem

Update: Also spoke with Call Center (155) just now - apparently the problem has been fixed, but the system is working through the back-log of activations. I was told to check it every hour or so.

Lets hope...

Just read this post, perhaps this is the same activation issue that is affecting my 071 number, bought the phone new years day.

What exactly is the problem that you are experiencing?

Linking data bundles to multiple numbers

Sorry if this has been asked before, I've searched around but couldn't find anything.

Is it possible to link a data bundle to more than one number? For example, I have Vodacom HSDPA at home on contract. Usually the bundle doesn't last anyway, so I buy a second one.

Besides this I have a messaging phone that I sometimes connect with as well, but I have no data bundle for it.

Is it possible to somehow link both devices to the same data bundle? If not, could it be a feature in the future? Vodacom4me already sees all the numbers attached to a specific contract holder, why not make all internet access for that contract holder go through the same databundle as well?

Check out Vodacom Data Sim;).

NB: For contract users (Top Up Excluded).

DataSIM on Topup Contracts

Hi All

I've been looking into this DataSIM feature from Vodacom and needed some clarity.

Does anyone know if the DataSIM is available on the Topup (I'm on Business Topup) packages already?
I queried this about 4 months ago and they said that its not available YET. It was apparantly in the pipeline.

For those already using a DataSIM with your normal contracts, am i understanding it correctly? Once I have the DataSIM active my normal/primary GSM sim now only handles voice and the DataSIM handles all the data processing?

Does this mean if I have it activated, I will not be able to check email, mxit, msn, and surf wap/web on my windows mobile phone at all or can i still access the internet but will be charged out of bundle rates?

If you are unable to make use of data on your handset while using the DataSIM in your 3G modem, then I don't see the point of switching to DataSIM once it's available on topup.

What do you guys think?

In my post people were saying the data is shared.

I have 2GB 3G on my desktop and 150MB on my handset. They were saying that I should drop the 150MB on my handset and share the 2GB data.

I dunno how it works though ...

The DataSIM is a data/sms only. So you can take calls and use data on the SIM in your phone AND use the DataSIM for browsing in a 3G Modem. You can have up to 2 DataSIMs on a contract.

Our Vodacom corporate account person says you can have a DataSIM on a top-up contract, but no-one has taken her up on that offer yet, so I don't know if it is actually possible.
