DataSIM: one voice contract and Data SIM Cards that share a Contract Data Bundle

Live thread, LLIIIVVEEE :)

I knew I saw this thread somewhere. One question: If I have a 500Mb bundle loaded on my contract, and I use a Data Sim in my notebook, will said Data SIM use data from my bundle on the contract?

Yes ! At least it does on mine (thats what the R9 is for, admisistrative linkage fee as the number of your data sim is totaly different)

DataSIM cards?

According to my local Vodashop DataSIM cards are not available currently and they also do not know then it will be available.

Does anybody know if this is correct, and when can we expect to have them again?

Whoever told you that probably didnt even know what a DataSIM is. AFAIK, they are available, but only for Contract customers.

I got my DataSIM card from a different Vodashop. I had to explain to the sales person what it is, and he had to make a call to support to confirm. He linked the DataSIM to my account but did not activate it.

It took me about 5 calls and one trip back to Vodashop to get it activated.

Although the card is now active I can not connect to the internet with it. According to 155 there is currently a problem with new SIM cards and I must be patient.

Similar story - got my DataSIM today, received an SMS to confirm that the DataSIM Service has been activated, but SIM doesn't want to connect.

Hopefully resolved soon... even worse now that V3G is going on (a much deserved, I am sure) holiday...

Apparently there is a problem with new contracts/activations where customers cant make Data Connections. Not sure if its related?

I am guessing this is the problem. Is this only with DataSim, or with all new DataContracts (I can hardly believe that...)

Rather frustrating - seeing that I bought an ad-hoc 1GB bundle on my voice contract and can't really use it (except for email and light-browsing on the phone)...

Data SIM questions

I got myself a data SIM (for my notebook), but need some clarity on a couple of things

1. Do I need to phone 155 to actually activate the APNs on the new SIM, or will that happen by default as it is a Data SIM?
2. Will I be able to use it in a mobile device (eg. TyTN) to only connect to HSDPA?
3. Do I need to load bundles on this cell number, or will it automatically grab the data bundles from my voice contract?

Thanks!

Q1 : Whan I got my DataSIM, it was already enabled (just had to wait for the SIM to activate, which happened the same day)

Q2 : Not sure, but I cant see why not.

Q3 : It uses the bundle on your primary Contract (the one it is linked to), as it only works on contract, you cant AFAIK load bundles, other than normal contract AD-HOC bundles, on your primary account.

Q1A: My SIM got activated last night, but it can't connect to either the internet or internetvpn APN (it does connect to MMS though, so the SIM is active)

Q3A: Thats what I thought (and hoped) :D

Thanks

You need GPRS for MMS to work, so if you can connect to MMS(send and recieve them), then you can connect. Something else might be wrong.
