Daylight Robbery !!!!

the new company is by the name of stratus office consumables, same thing except they targeted my mother, now they are messing her around, i told her to stop buying these things, which i think she did but this rude woman keeps haggling for payment,

so any advice ?

I think my sister was hassled by the same bitch, my sister cost us a **** load for crap cartridges but when we found out what was happening we told the bitch to get lost and we were not going to pay. (we almost went looking for them but figured it aint worth the effort)

p.s. my sister will no longer buy things over the phone :)

Ignore them they will go away, if they threaten legal action just counter that you will sue back or even better start suing them straight away (people love letters from lawyers)

Hi Guys

Just an update, seems these scammers are still targeting companies, this time in the Midrand area. They've tried to solicit money from one of my clients. Exactly the same MO as Dower business systems, even the same rude woman.

They seem to be reaching new lows, hiding a purchase order underneath the delivery note and trying rush the receptionist into signing it by pretending they're in a hurry.

Can someone please give me advice on the following situation:

This company phoned me last week wanting to sell me some new kind of ink cartridge that supposedly lasts 5 times longer than a standard cartridge. They then asked me if they could send me a couple of these cartridges to test, an HP nr. 15 black and 78 Colour.

Being in the IT industry myself, I'm always willing to try a new product and agreed. Admittedly I was in a bit of a hurry so I might not have been thorough enough and neglected to ask the price.

The 2 cartridges arrived the next day and a couple of days later a quotation for R1798.92 !!!!! OMG... I nearly fell off my chair :(

For this same price I could go buy 8 HP ORIGINAL cartridges and still save R200, so even if these cartridges can print 2000 pages (which they claim, but I HIGHLY doubt), they would still be more expensive than normal cartridges.

I googled their brand (Jetprint) and another company in SA also sells jetprint.(51649A HP Tricolour JetPrint Cartridge 350pgs R185.00)
Note the 350pgs claimed here versus the 2000 claimed by Dover. That is in fact LESS than an original HP cartridge (415pgs), and they expect me to pay R699 for it.

I phoned these people wanting an explanation for the rediculous pricing to which I got some verry hostile responses. They now expect me to pay their rediculous prices.

My question then is do I have to pay or can I just send their ripoff products back. Our office lady signed a delivery note, but other than that there is no documentation proving that I agreed to these rediculous prices.

Apparently there's a law regarding cash purchases which protects the consumer, which might be helpful.

Any legal or other advice would also be much appreciated.

Edit: My bad.. i quoted the wrong prices, here is my little comparison:

Normal Retail:

It's a scam. We also got suckered into that a few years back... paid R2500 for two normal HP laser cartridges. They bully you into accepting the offer without giving you all the details.

I would send them back and ask for my money back.

If they refuse... tell them we will expose them.

Shame that sucks

I have been tricked by these guys once a couple of years back also for over 1k a toner and i eventually paid.

I just cannot believe these guys are still in business.

Don't pay them as it's your legal right to return unwanted goods... Wish I could spend more tiem on this now but i got to run.

Will post again tonight.
 
These people deserve to be taken to the SPCA and put down like old dogs.

This thread got my blood boiling.

As suggested, read the whole thread so you understand how these fraudsters operate, then do the following:

1) Go to your boss and explain to him what's going on, that these people are trying to extort money from your company for unwanted goods. If your boss still doesn't understand, he's welcome to contact me personally. You are doing NOTHING wrong, they are the criminals here.
2) When that rude woman phones again, tell her that their product is unwanted and according to the law you have no obligation to pay for unwanted goods. Also tell her that her actions are illegal and that you will be reporting her to your local police, seeing as she is trying to extort money from you for a product which you did not consent to buying.
3) Tell her that as from today you will be charging them storage costs of R200 per day until their "product" it is collected. Then tell her that any further correspondence is to be directed to your legal department/lawyer.

Why don't someone make an appointment with them and have the SAPS on standby?

This technique worked just great to catch the guys that were trying to scam the primary school in my area with the 'accidental cheque deposit into the wrong account' fraud scheme. They even caught the getaway driver that was circling the school in his car.

Hi Eileen, whatever you need, just let us know. I'm assuming they're the same people as C&N Imaging Products / Dower Business Systems etc...
